FW: Cannot access shares from a Win2k client
Here's a followup. I also get these errors in the smbd logs. The thing is, the share directory has full permissions (0777) and the smb.conf is set to be fully readable, writeable and okay for guests. [2003/12/19 15:21:23, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(677) '/home/bspiegel/test/' does not exist or is not a directory, when connecting to [test] [2003/12/19 15:21:23, 3]

another "Failed to verify incoming ticket"
Hello everyone, I'm sorry for this long post, but I think there is a real understanding problem for many people on ADS domain membership. I'm not the first to post about this type of problem, however I didn't find an answer to it in the archives and I followed the HOWTO-collection. Well, this is what I'm doing : I am using samba-3.0.1 compiled from source, MIT kerberos 1.3.1

Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctypes
Hi people, I have a Linux box running Samba 3.0.2a in ADS mode MIT Kerberos 1.3.3. My W2K e WXP users can't access the linux box by netbios name, the only access that works is by IP address, I know that's caused because access thought IP address don't make use of Kerberos. The most strange for me it's that the same environment works fine with a W2K Active Directory, I read in same

RES: Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctype s

I mean, is the Samba 3.0.2a+Kerberos MIT 1.3.3 able to be accessed by a WXP, W2K or W2K3 machine, using Kerberos tickets generated in a Windows 2003 KDC (W2K3 AD) ? Unable to create keytab in samba 3.0.1
List- I have several samba 3.0.0 file/print servers running in a Windows 2000 AD domain. I do not use winbind; but have an LDAP database for Unix UID's with nss_ldap. I have MIT krb5-1.3.1. When I have tried to upgrade these machines to samba 3.0.1, clients get prompted for a user name and password when trying to connect. I have seen others with this problem, but none of their fixes have

Samba 3.2.7 and XP authentication error
List, Long and confusing message follows... I'm facing a frustrating problem. XP clients can use resoures on the samba server by IP-address, but not by name. So, "net view \\servername" gives "access denied" but "net view \\ipaddress" gives list of shared resources. Samba server (3.2.7 sernet rpm) is a member server in W2003 domain. I emphasise that with

Problems with ADS membership in win2k domain
I'm having problems with ADS membership for samba. I had a "mostly" working version with RHES v2.1, krb5 v1.2, samba v3.0.5. I knew to get to a fully functioning version I would need krb5 v1.3 or later. So finally I had an opertunity to junk RH's crufty krb5 and build from scratch with: RHES v2.1 MIT krb5 v1.4 samba v3.0.13 This works fine on another server. Now to the

Debian Stable Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 upgrade - broke my config?
I upgraded Samba from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 using apt & the Debian Stable binary packages on samba.org. Samba server was a member server for a Windows 2000 AD domain. Since then, I have been having problems connecting to it by name (\\TERABYTE) - ip address works fine, but by name I'm prompted for a username/password and nothing works. I'm guessing this is a Kerberos problem, and

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works. Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of using the netbios name works. This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"

bad encryption type in AD domain authentication
Hello, I'm trying to access a samba share using an ADS user credentials. I always get an error, and the debug traces (log level = 5) are giving me the output in the follow. I have searched the samba ML archives, and I have found the thread http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2004-April/084545.html but, before asking the system admin to apply the eventual KB fixes, I would like to know if the

Win2K unable to connect to 3.0.1 shares
I've been having an issue that's been discussed at some length here on the list, but I haven't found a definitive solution to it. The problem is the Win2k connection failing when attempting to connect to Samba 3.0.1 shares in a Win2k3 Active Directory domain. I've installed MIT-Kerberos 1.3.1 and done all the configuration. I'm running winbindd. The following commands work

Kerberos authentication problems
I appear to be having a problem with samba using kerberos to authenticate to a win2k pdc. Background: Windows 2kSP4 PDC. WhiteBox Enterprise Linux 3 running 2.4.21-4.ELsmp on x86. samba 3.0.2-6.3E.i386 from the distribution's rpm. krb5-1.3.1 I can successfully use "net ads join" and see the computer appear in Active Directory. I can use kinit to authenticate via kerberos, and
