Unix to SMB Password Sync using PAM
Hello,
I would like to configure PAM to sync Unix passwords to Samba passwords.
When I add a new Unix user or change an existing Unix user's password,
I want the same password to be stored in /etc/smbpasswd.
I'm trying to follow these instructions:
http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/pam.html#id2606200
It sounds like this is what I want to do:

Logins require local admin membership on Windows XP
Hello,
This is my first post to this list so if I break any rules be gentle :)
I will try to put in as much detail into this as I can, here I go:
We have a domain at work with Samba (samba-3.0.10-1.fc2) as the PDC. The
Linux box is running FC2 as the rpm suggests running on a 2.6.5-1.358smp
kernel.
The problems that we exhibit is that unless you have your domain account

Samba with OpenLDAP: Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error
Hi all. I Am trying to set up samba with openldap with TLS. I have
configured other applications such nss_ldap and smbldap-tools to work
correctly with TLS support.
When I try to smbpassd, I get the following message:
Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error
Connection to LDAP server failed for the 1 try!
My box is a FreeBSD 7-RELEASE with samba 3.0.32 and OpenLDAP 2.3.43.

NT/Samba 2.0.0 password problem
I believe this may not be the problem that happens the first time. I
have a RedHat 5.2 running with Samba Server 2.0.0. Everything work
alright with secuity of smb.conf on server mode.
security = server
encrypted password = yes
password server = PDC
However, when I tired to change to user mode, I cannot pass the
authorization.

Samba 3.0.5 PDC Changing passwords
I have a test environment setup with samba 3.05 (soon to be 3.06)
installed and 2 winxp pro clients. I have setup samba to be the PDC
using tdbsam as the backend. Every thing works fine except changing
passwords.
The clients cannot change the windows passwords with CTRL+ALT+DEL. I
cannot login to Swat with the users name and change their password. ( I

Having problems connecting xp machine to samba
In my case, I've attempted to set up a Redhat linux 9.0 box as a primary
domain controller. I have a windows xp machine (professional) and am
attempting to connect to the pdc. However, I continually receive a network
path not found error. When I look within the log.smbd file, I see a number
of Denied connection from (client ip address) messages. Here are some things
to note:

Samba Question
Hopefully very easy question to answer. I am trying to migrate data of of
a samba server that is using winbind joined to a windows domain to another
box. What samba or winbind files do I need so that this will resolve to
names rather than UID and GID. For example........
drwxr-x--- 1049 10926 10005 36864 May 15 11:46 Student
Thanks

mksmbpasswd.sh and passwd sync problems...
Hello Everyone!
I've spent quite a bit trying to get these shares to work just right. I'll past the output of my smb.conf at the end of this message. If anyone has any advice on this, that would be great.
My first problem is that I'm trying to sync up my /etc/passwd with the /etc/samba/smbpasswd file. (I'm using Mandrake 9.0 and Samba 2.2.6-1.0.pre2.2.mdk. Mandrake puts the

doveadm move from one user's mailbox to another user's mailbox?
Is something along the lines:
doveadm move -u sourceuser destinationuser:/inbox search_query
possible with 2.0.16?
I want to move mails from a backup mailbox (which has no valid
password assigned) to a "restore" mailbox (which *HAS* a password
assigned to it).

New user's naive question
I have installed Mandrake 8.1 and chose ext3 for my main partitions (other
than root). However, stupidly, I cannot now remember whether I specified
ext3 for some other partitions that I haven't yet mounted (these are
essentially just spare capacity, though they may have some files on them if
they weren't formatted).
Is there a simple way of telling whether I should mount these as

Asterisk STILL loosing IAX user's registration
Asterisk 1.4.21.1 built by asterisk @ lnxca
Fedora 7
Well, I did the upgrade from version 1.4.16.2 to 1.4.21.1, activated the
qualify for iax users, and Asterisk is still loosing the iax user's
registration. Once again this is really wired because no configurations
changes have been done to the system, the only change was a reinstallation
of asterisk with user "asterisk" instead of
