This is a repost of my first mail: Hello, I'm trying to configure a Samba server to simply use LDAP backend for authenticate users. Just that, I don't care of PDC/BDC, etc. The samba schema is present in the LDAP, and in the users profile. The samba server have the same SID as the domain. luks ecrypted storage poll - lvm - possible?
hi everyone, do we get to encrypt lvm pools in/with libvirt? I'm on Centos 7.x but see mention of it, not even on the net. Or in other words - can guests(lxc I'm thinking of) run off ecrypted lvm where at least the part when dev gets luksOpened is taken care of by libvirt? many thanks, L.

I have no idea which libvirt version is in Centos versions, but support was added in libvirt 3.9.0 (Nov. 2017) via commit 2518fd3b6a with a followup commit 9b837963 for libvirt

Bug in Samba v2.2.8a with Windows API GetFileAttributes ?
Before my company was bought out by another company, we were using Samba v1.9.3 and I'm pretty certain that the GetFileAttributes was working properly but I can't be absolutely sure. Since the move, we're using v2.2.5 and just recently upgraded to v2.2.8a on Solaris 2.7. I'm doing my testing on an XP machine. I'm seeing that GetFileAttributes is always returning 0 instead of

Cannot Get Samba to Work Without Encrypted Password with Legacy Client
Hi there, I have looked for a solution to my problem on the Internet (and in particular this mailing list), but couldn't find one, probably due to searching for the wrong thing :-) I have an RPI running Samba version 4.9.5-Debian. "pdbedit -L" shows that the user "smbuser" exists. I used "smbpassword" to set the password of "smbuser". I also have

NT_STATUS code list ?
Hi, I'm trying to automate a server connection to various shares on my network (so as to back them up). I use smbmount which works fine, except on one machine running winXp: i shared a directory on that machine, using a locally created windows user with read-only rights as the only one allowed to access this share. When i tried to mount it (kernel 2.4.20) with smbfs, smbmount hanged, and

3.6.6 map untrusted to domain does not work if winbind is running
Hi all, I have a domain member server 3.6.6 running on debian7, authenticating against another debian7 + samba 3.6.6 in DC-mode. Both servers have user-accounts and groups on LDAP and resolve posix users using libnss-ldap. The groupmap is living on LDAP as well. The domain member server serves a share with ACL enabled. I got the upgrade to 3.6.X and idmap-updates working, but the old

Windows 7 against Samba+LDAP does not work with some passwords
Dear all, I have installed Samba (3.6.6) on Debian wheezy and configured it to authenticate against LDAP (encrypted passwords, no lanman). I want simple shares with user security. I have configured PAM/NSS from the same LDAP and it works fine. WinXP works fine, smbclient works fine, but Windows 7 only works for SOME passwords. Some work, some do not. Samba is configured with restricted LDAP

Mac OS X (Samba 2.2.3a) and Samba 3.0.1 Domain
Hi, I'm having problems connecting from a Mac OS X (v10.2) box to a Linux (Red Hat 9, kernel 2.4.23) box running Samba as a PDC. The Mac OS box is running Samba 2.2.3a (build 26), the Linux box running Samba 3.0.1. The problem seems to be the following: (this is a level 4 log, I think) [2004/01/13 10:41:18, 4] auth/auth_sam.c:sam_password_ok(227) sam_password_ok: Checking NT MD4
