Samba 3 PDC with LDAP - Error when changinguserpasswordfrom windows
1. yes, I tried these lines and in the logs, there was a failure in response 3 "match no". When I manually ran smbldaa-passwd.pl in xterm, I saw that there's never a "successfully" meesage when the password is changed with success, I looked the code (luckily it's Perl ;o)), and I didn't see any "print "succes"" or "print "password

Hi all! I want to thanks all people here for their help, good job guys! :o) And nox, it's my question: I'm using smbldap-tools 0.8.2 from samba.idealx.org. In all the docs I read about it, I read that I must put these lines in smb.conf: passwd program = /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-passwd.pl -o %u passwd chat = *new*password* %n\n *new*password* %n\n *successfully* I look in the code of

About join domain in different subnet.
Hi all: I have a question about join domain. If my samba server and domain controller are in different subnet (such = as 192.168.1.x and 192.168.2.x), two conditions happened: ADS domain 1. if I use domain name, then join fail. 2. if I use IP address of domain controller, join success. However, in both cases I can't retrieve domain users/groups. Is it necessary for samba sever and domain

Unable to add computer to domain
I have an OpenLDAP backend, Samba knows how to talk to it, my Samba users are stored in LDAP and file shares work fine authenticating to the LDAP server. I tried executing smbldap-useradd -w server02 on the command-line and got the following error: failed to perform search; Can't contact LDAP server at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.7/smbldap_tools.pm line 362, <DATA> line 283. Just received one of these things for each email I sent to CentOS list early this morning...about a 6.5 hour lag time... what gives? I bet everyone starts seeing them real soon now unless it's just my great fortune... you should consider bouncing this subscription if it's valid. Problems with userPassword when it's base64 encoded
I'm switching from OpenLDAP to the newly released Fedora Directory Server (formely known as the Netscape Directory Server) as a LDAP backend for my Samba domain. I'm now faced with a problem regarding how Fedora DS handles the userPassword field. Unlike OpenLDAP it encodes it in base64 so instead of reading userPassword: {SSHA}0lP+r3Z1NVan7Caf4CG9oSgnTbQRrv/p it reads: userPassword::

Re: samba Digest, Vol 32, Issue 9
I've tried "wins support = true" (and "wins support = yes"... just in case). I stopped and restarted the samba daemons and rebooted the WinXP client. I have no change in the results. Based on something I read in the troubleshooting part of the HowTo, I added the address of the server to the Wins tab in the advanced section of the TCP/IP properties... still no results :(
