Anti-virus software at Shorewall.net
For the last several years, I have been using Vexira MailArmor (http://www.centralcommand.com) for anti-virus protection on the mail server here at Shorewall.net. While Vexira is an excellent product and I have been very happy with it, it costs me $300US/year for a one-domain license. To avoid this expense, I have decided to try ClamAV (http://www.clamav.net). I have installed ClamAV and since my

Spam vs. Viruses
I have purchased a license for Vexira MailArmor (an antivirus product) and the good news is that it is installed and working at shorewall.net. The bad news is that I have yet to get Vexira running together with SpamAssassin :-( As things currently stand, list posts will be protected from viruses but may contain Spam. I''ll continue to work to correct this situation. -Tom -- Tom Eastep

workaround for 'hang on exit' bug does not seem to work
Hi, I am using Redhat 7.3 which comes with openssh 3.1p1. I am running an antivirus software called vexira on this server. It starts of 2 daemon processes in the background. Whenever I stop/start these daemons in an ssh session, it hangs. I added "shopt -s huponexit" (without the quotes) in /etc/bashrc, but the hangs still occur. Any advice on this would be appreciated Regards, Yusuf

Win10 cannot access linux shares
Hi, When I upgraded from Fedora 22 to Fedora 25 my Win10 box lost the ability to connect to shares on the F25 box. The F25 box can still access shares on the Win10 box. F25 is currently running Samba 4.5.13 and I have a simple workgroup setup. Let's call the Win10 box 'fred' and the F25 box 'ethel'. When fred tries to access a share on ethel, I am prompted for username and

Remove superscripts from HTML objects
Is there some way to remove superscripts from objects returned by html/xmlParse (XML package)? h <- "<html><p>Cata</p><p>Dog</p></html>" doc <- htmlParse(h) xpathSApply(doc, "//p", xmlValue) [1] "Cata" "Dog" I could probably remove the tags from the "h" object above,

Starting/Stopping a process via web interface?
''Sup everybody?! I''ll be wanting to start/stop a background process via RoR''s web interface (probably by clicking a form button). When activated, this process will do its stuff perpetually, until deactivated again. Any ideas how to go about this? cron would probably be involved. Thanks, Joe -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

R Commander and FactoMineR
Dear Users, I helped to install R Commander and FactoMineR to one of my collegaues. He wanted to do an MCA. Selecting three variables and using the default settings results in only one graph, the variables representation, where he gets three points for the three variables (which is totally fine). Running the code (output of the point-and-click method) EuTop100.MCA<-EuTop100[,

Generate combination of strings
Hey all, I am trying to generate a number of vectors with string combinations. The below code solves my initial problem, however I would prefer not hardcoding the positions of the 'objects' as in the future the number of 'objects' could increase. Is there a way to loop over these objects and generate the same output? The same goes for the 'maxspacer'. Thanks a whole

Problems with Rules?
Hi -- I was happily running Shorewall 1.4 for quite a while, then upgraded recently to 2.0.13 (Debian Linux, Exim4, Squid, no DMZ) and can''t get Shorewall working. When I start it, my ssh and pop3 access is immediately blocked locally. This is a very simple setup. No dmz, just ETH1 to the Internet and ETH0 local, with IP Masq. Turned ON. I would appreciate it if someone who has a

Differential Equations Using R?
To whom it may concern, I am a student at Macaleste College, and next semester Macalester is going to offer a course for CellBio that is mainly statistically based. For the most part the students will be using R for analysis. The problem is there will be some simple differential equations for the students to solve. The committee that in charge of the classes corriculam would like only to

Literature analysis
Dear all, i am new in R. I am writing a review paper about batteries. However, i am interested in analyzing all the papers by keywords, author, references and year. This could be done by "refviz" a software, which is only running on windows machines and which is not free. So my question to you is, is it somehow possible to write a script that can do all of this work? And if yes, with

Only 5 tests out of 376 currently failing!
Good news! SuperRedCloth is down to just five failing tests! I was down to 10 or so in mid-February but then I added test cases from "The official reference manual for Textile 2", which added 97 new tests, many of them failing. I''m happy to say, they''re almost all passing now. Four of these last five I just need to check with you on before I deviate from
