Hi My Samba configuration uses ADS for user authentication. I have a request to grant users access who are not members of ADS. Is it possible to set up both smbpasswd and ADS authentication? I've tried "wins support = true" (and "wins support = yes"... just in case). I stopped and restarted the samba daemons and rebooted the WinXP client. I have no change in the results. Based on something I read in the troubleshooting part of the HowTo, I added the address of the server to the Wins tab in the advanced section of the TCP/IP properties... still no results :(

I just tried this with CentOS 5.3 as well, and got exactly the same symptoms and dmesg output. (As a point of comparison, Ubunu 8.04 on my work laptop is able to access the drive.) Obviously "not detected" is a misapprehension, though I'm puzzled why "lsusb" doesn't show it. The device is there even though the partition table can't be read. ---------- Forwarded
