Hi Marco
Try to veto oplocks for that file.
In the global section of your smb.conf, add the following
veto oplock files = /NTUSER.DAT/
Let us know if that changes

oplock problem on NTUSER.DAT
Hi,
I'm on a network with a Samba 2.2.8a fileserver + PDC (Mandrake Linux
9.0) and various Win2000 Pro clients.
Very often, when I log off from one client and log on a different one
soon after, I get an error message telling me that the remote profile
cannot be loaded, and the local one will be used, as if the profile was
still locked by the previous session.
One peculiar thing to notice is

Read-only folders from XP Pro
Hi,
I'm using Samba 2.2.8a as PDC + file server in a LAN containing many
Win2000 Pro clients and one WinXP Pro client.
In a share I have some directories which are set to read-only by a script
on the Linux side, but any user can open up the folder properties on the
Windows client and remove the read-only attribute; this is ok, it's what I
want, and works perfectly on Win2000 clients. On

WinXP needs a lot of time to read files from Samba Share
Hi!
After installing a SuSE 8.0 Enterprise with Samba 2.2.3a, I've a lot of trouble
with accessing files on my configured Samba shares.
If I want to open a file on one of the shares with a double click in the Windows
Explorer (WinXP) it needs exactly 50 seconds (!!!) to REALY open that file. If I
use an application - the file will be open immediatly. Another problem is, that

WinXP allows login to expired/forbidden accounts
Hi,
I've stumbled upon this problem while trying to limit access to specific
machine to specific domain users. I did it by setting Samba to obey PAM
restrictions, and then using the pam_access PAM module ('account' clause)
to do user validation (described below).
On Win2000, this works fine - if an unauthorized user tries to login,
Win2000 says 'Account not permitted to

WinXP DFS problems, debugging with dfsutil.exe
Hello Johan,
I'm having the same problems with DFS and WinXP clients since I upgraded
to 2.2.8.
I tried to clear the cache on the client side with dfsutil.exe that
comes with the Win2000 SP2 but to no avail.
Can anyone else confirm this problem?
It's also strange that on the WinXP clients the version of the samba
server is still registered as a previous version (2.2.6 or 2.2.7).

Permissions
Hi Group,
I set up samba3.0 to work as ADS-Member-Server.
I created a share called /test and chown group to gg_test to it.
Access to share works without any problems. I also can add files and
directories to this share.
When I now make ln -l, the files I added got the group-permissions "Domain
Users" and not gg_test, as I expected.
Do someone know a solution?
Thanks in advance.

authentication problem with WinXP clients
Hello,
we have problem with user authentication when accessing shared folders at
standalone Samba server (security=share) from Windows XP.
There is no problem accessing public folders ("guest ok=yes" and "guest
only=yes"). But when trying to access non-public folders ("guest ok=no"
with valid users definition), username / password dialog appears, but username

Why don't you submit to the sourceforge feature request queue as a
patch? That way it will be there for anyone who wants to hack on it.

Problem installing a particular printer WinXP/Samba2. 2.7a
Has the driver for this printer been installed on
the samba server? If it has, it may have to be
reinstalled.
If the 4550 can't be installed on the server,
you can create a printer share for
[picasso] and use:
use client driver = yes
path = /var/spool/public
create mode = 0700
printable = yes
public = yes
browseable = yes
Then the Win2k/XP clients will install the driver
locally,

multiple cluster doesn't work
We're trying to setup 3 PRDM partitions (VMware) across 2 nodes. As long as
only one is configured in cluster.conf, there's not problem. As soon as we
try to use 2 or more we get issues.
It looks the same as bug 636:

I posted my cluster.conf and command line results there. I'm including them

Samba 3.0 issues with mapped drives properties
Mandrake 9.1 Samba 3.0, windows2000 pro sp4.
I finally got Samba 3.0 working thanks to G?mes G?za. Now I am having
another issue as outlined below:
1)There are 2 users on the Linux pc, markw (regular user) and root. Both
have valid samba passwords.
2)I have a share called:
[data]
path = /test
valid users = markw, root
read only = No
browseable = yes
3)I am able to map the share with the user

Big problems with 3.0.24-6etch6 Debian packages
Hi,
I'm using Samba as a PDC with roaming profiles on a Debian Etch machine,
the clients are Windows XP/2000 machines.
I just installed security upgrades with aptitude, and this upgraded all
samba 3.0.24-6etch4 packages to 3.0.24-6etch6 (except for samba-doc
which was upgraded to 3.0.24-6etch7).
Immediately after the upgrade, my users could not load their profiles at
login anymore. Errors

[Flac-users] Undefined PLT symbol "FLAC__plugin_common__init_dither_context"
Well, I've rebuilt flac from the original source, without using the NetBSD
package system, and I'm still seeing the same problem with the XMMS FLAC
plugin:
/usr/pkg/lib/xmms/Input/libxmms-flac.so: Undefined PLT symbol "FLAC__plugin_common__init_dither_context" (symnum = 30)
I can see that the symbol is defined in the common library:

Hello List,
i want to send messages (information on incomming calls) from
my linux box to my win2000 workstation. For this i use
echo "hell0" |smbclient -M win2000 -I 192.168.0.3
the problem ist that the message appears about 10 seconds
later, a little to late for a call )-: .
The reason for that is the behaviour of smbclient together
with win2000. When i call smbclient like

[Flac-users] Re: CD archival best practices?
I've just started to archive my CD collection (about 800 CDs), and
my criteria are pretty much the same as the original message under
this subject, except that I'm doing one file per CD. One file per song
is just too much of a pain, and there's really no need, given FLAC's
ability to have metadata in the file.
The first thing I do is run cd-discid against the cd, and store that
