smbclient works, mount.cifs fails NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE in Samba 4.8.3
Hello, I am attempting to debug an issue with my Samba configuration. It has been working fine, but we recently updated Samba from 4.6.x to 4.8.3 and are now seeing some issues authenticating. Most of our servers are still working fine after the upgrade, but one server is giving us issues. A little more environment info: The server is running Centos 7.1. Windows clients can connect OK. Help with mapping a UNIX group to a AD Directory Group
Hi All, I have already integrated my samba with the Active directory domain using winbind, but I am trying to do the following. I want to map a UNIX group "ccusers" to Active Directory group "NICE\ccusers". I need my AD users that don't have local accounts on my machine to be able to access directories owne by the UNIX group ccusers. It seems like it should be simple to

Use a different usename than the recipient address (that require a lookup)?
Hi there, I am integrating Postfix and DoveCot, both use LDAP to look up user/email address info. My question is this: can I create a user "jsmith" to get all emails with the recipient address: dovecotdemo at domain? Because of using LDAP, I need to do a lookup to know that the user "jsmith" is getting emails for "dovecotdemo at domain", NOT "dovecotdemo"

User Primary group problem
How do I establish both a user's primary NTgroup and Unixgroup when creating a new user? Depending on the tool, I can set his NTgroup or his Unix group, but I don't seem to be able to establish both with one tool. I'm having a little difficulty with creating users with the proper groups. My login scripts are based on the user's primary group. When I create a new user with

Is it possible to store XP Profiles on Samba 3.0.2 ?
Hi all, Can you use Samba to store an XP Pro profile? I'm running Samba 3.0.2a (compiled from source) on Solaris 9. Compiled it against OpenLDAP 2.1.30 and MIT Kerberos 1.3.3 (both compiled from source from fresh downloads today). Am now trying to get Windows XP Pro to store profiles on to this box. The smbd and nmbd seem to run fine. Every time XP Pro goes to create a user's

SPA8000 outbound CID problem
Hi, I'm trying to configure a Linksys/Cisco SPA8000 talking SIP to both a local Asterisk server and also with a trunk directly to a VOIP provider. Everything works great, except I'm having a problem setting the outbound caller ID to a value different from the SIP username/authname. The SPA8000 has SIP setting for Display Name, User ID, Password, and Auth ID, as well as a "Use Auth

Samba 3.4.7 can't retrieve idmap infor from ldap
I am running Samba 3.4.7on Fedora Core 11 Linux. This is a domain member. My PDC is Samba 3.4.9 on Solaris 10. I have LDAP as a backend (Sun/Oracle Directory Server 6.) I have an OU for user accounts, and an OU for idmap entries. The PDC has already populated some idmap entries. An idmap entry looks like dn: sambaSID=S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-1121,ou=mydomain,ou =idmap,o=mycomany.com

Mixed ZFS vdev in same pool.
I have a question about using mixed vdev in the same zpool and what the community opinion is on the matter. Here is my setup: I have four 1TB drives and two 500GB drives. When I first setup ZFS I was under the assumption that it does not really care much on how you add devices to the pool and it assumes you are thinking things through. But when I tried to create a pool (called group) with four

Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi, our setup is Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA) Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008) The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles are working. However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2 server to users from the SAMBA

Message-waiting-indicator thru ZAP interfaces - how to?
I'm trying to make the MWI indicators on my client's Vodavi Starplus DHS phones work. The actual signalling - in-band DTMF from the ZAP interfaces directly to the PBX system - works fine. I can manually tell asterisk to send "#9610" as DTMF and voila, the MWI on extension 10 lights (or goes out.) The question is, how is this integrated with voicemail, i.e. so that the MWI

Samba <- Winbind -> Windows 2003 ADS Questions
Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to Samba - at least for more in-depth installations. Big Thank-You from my company to the brilliant developers responsible for this software. We have our Samba server integrated with our Windows 2003 AD domain users via Winbind - a working installation with some issues described below. getent passwd works as the many docs show (one entry below):
