"My Network Places" acts funny with roaming profiles
Samba 3.3.2 running as a domain master on an Ubuntu Server box. We're using roaming profiles with appropriate redirection. This behaviour is being seen on a Windows XP Pro workstation joined to the server's domain. We're pretty happy except that My Network Places is behaving differently than one would expect for a Windows box. If a user creates a new network place, everything is

roaming profiles in Samba 2.2 vs 3
Hi, Below is a snippet of my .conf file that worked in 2.2.7a; [netlogon] comment = network logon service path = \\stuff\people\netlogon read only = no browseable = no guest ok = yes [profile] comment = user profiles path = \\stuff\people\%U writeable = yes browseable = no Using v3.0 during a logon session from a 2K ws I get; Windows cannot create profile directory \\% N\username\profile.pds

Problems using Roaming Profiles on Win2k
Hi, I have set up a Samba 2.2.7a to work as a PDC for my Win2k boxes. They can join the domain suplied by samba, and all the users can log on to their domain but, the roaming profiles just won't work. I'm using win2k SP4 and my smb.conf is as described bellow: [global] workgroup = CASA netbios name = SERVIDOR interfaces = 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 127.0.0.1/255.0.0.0 bind interfaces

Roaming profiles not roamin :(
Hello folks! I have a "small" problem configuring samba-3.0.9 (on Debian, if that matters). My samba server acts like primary domain controller, and my users can log to the domain. But, their profiles are not roaming (yes, those users have roaming profile selected on every workstation, that's not it). That is - they are not created on samba machine, but instead, on every workstation

Failed to delete entry for share
Hi All, I'm having some minor trouble with an obscure samba feature. I'm using the remote administration "Server Manager" features of smb.conf. Specifically the "add share command" "change share command" and "delete share command". I've written a small C program to do the text-processing portion of smb.conf file needed for each operation. The C

Samba 2.2.8a smbd/vfs.c:reduce_name not handling sym links correctly
I am seeing some odd behavior on a Solaris 8 system. If I try to access a symlinked file, reduce_name is having a problem with the link >From a level 10 log: [2003/05/12 11:50:12, 3, pid=18558] lib/util.c:(387) unix_clean_name [/disk2/OC192/syee_test1.bat] [2003/05/12 11:50:12, 3, pid=18558] smbd/vfs.c:(800) reduce_name [disk2/OC192/syee_test1.bat] [/vobstore] [2003/05/12 11:50:12, 3,

Controlling use of roaming profiles
We are using a system running Red Hat Linux 7.0 with Samba 2.2.7a as our PDC. For the most part, we want to use roaming profiles, so that users' settings are backed up via the PDC, and are available if they need to change or reinstall their Windows desktop machine. However, there are a few Windows systems (running NT 4.0 or Windows 2000) for which we would like to be able to disable roaming

Roaming Profiles for Domain USERS not saved with XP Client.
Okay, I don't have much hair left and I am ready to pull it out. I am running samba 2.2.7a as a PDC for Windows XP clients. Everything works fine for DOMAIN users who are in the administrators group on the XP workstation. My problem is if users are in the Power Users or Users group on the XP client, then when the log out changes to their profiles are not saved back to the server. I know
