APW issue and excessive Get-Printer-Attributes in CUPS access_log
Hello all, I am trying to get to the bottom of a printing issue with samba-3.0.25b-2.fc7 and cups-1.2.11-2.fc7. I wasn't sure whether to start here or the CUPS list. When left running for an hour or two, the CUPS process will often be left using nearly 100% CPU. At this point, printing and add printer wizard operations from Windows clients over Samba are unreliable. Dialog boxes pertaining

Add Printer Wizard and Slowness
Hello all, We have a Samba box set up as our primary campus print server, running CUPS 1.1.19 and Samba 3.3.0. Our primary interface for adding printers is the Add Printer Wizard. I am finding very slow response while adding/modifying/deleting printers. Making changes to any of the settings for a printer (default tray, driver, etc) can take 20-40 seconds or will sometimes timeout, requiring a

Printer Admin Difficulties
I have been trying to setup a new print server on Fedora 12 based around samba-3.4.7-58.fc12.x86_64 and cups-1.4.2-28.fc12.x86_64. All looks good except for the ability for printer administrators to manage printers. Whether I specify users in a system group using the deprecated printer admin option, or specifically using net rpc rights and the SePrinterOperatorPrivilege, it does not matter.

frustrating - which ppd for win clients
I have had terrible luck trying to find a ppd that works correctly for both win9x clients and winNT/2000/XP at the same time. The CUPS method is to find one ppd that works for all and I have tried several: those at linuxprinting.org, hp's sourceforge site, vendor winNT ppds (docs suggest these), and vendor win98 ppds. I have tried filtering PJL and not filtering PJL. I have the stock

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all. I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers' feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ). I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which basically takes your existing ppd file, and

SAMBA / CUPS Printserver
Okay, I've got some progress now. Have fairly decent printserver working. I've been able to reproduce the same postive and negative results in two physical servers and now (finaly destination) a vmware server. What's working: ADS integration, this is a domain member Printer driver installation (for a few drivers) Printer installation / removal Printing. What's not working:

Problems with CUPS and a networked epson printer
I have an Epson Stylus Color 880, connected to our network via an external ethernet printserver. I used to run lprng on the samba server (which is a domain controller), and the Windows clients had one minor problem accessing this printer via Samba (2.2.3a, then): Every time a client wanted to print, the Epson status monitor on the client would complain about communication problems with the

Secondary groups from ldap
Hello, I'm trying to configure my user_attrs using LDAP as the userdb so that dovecot knows what secondary groups a user is a member of. The LDAP backend is an Open Directory implementation, which stores secondary group affiliations as memberUid attributes in cn=groupname,cn=groups,dc=dns,dc=name,dc=server. With ldapsearch, my query would be: ldapsearch -x -b

need help setting up a printer
I'm trying to setup a print share with samba-2.2.4 that 9x and 2k clients should be able to print to. Below is my current setup listing only printer related options. My first concern right now is that I have cups running with the pdfdistiller script to format print jobs into pdf documents. I'm not using a real printer for this. I need samba to display the cups printer called PDF_Printer so

configs
I'm seeing very long delays the first time winbind accesses the network. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=496569 I've tried lots of things, down to stripping the config to a bare minimum for ADS security and even killing ipv6 support on the box. Nothing has resolved this. Does anyone see anything obviously wrong with this configuration that might cause a very long

Problems loading printer list using Samba 2.2.7a with CUPS
I am using Samba to successfully load the printer list directly from CUPS with one fairly significant caveat. If a printer is added to CUPS while Samba is running there is apparently nothing I can do to have it visibly appear when doing a list of the services in Samba (such as with "smbclient -L"). This is also a problem if Samba starts before CUPS in the boot sequence. I find that

permission issues
Here is the situation. I have setup a samba server to authenticate against Active Directory. I have created a group under my Linux server and created all the accounts that need to access the share and placed them in the Linux group on the samba server. I gave the group full rights to the samba share, but when a user from the group adds to the samba share a file or directory he or she now owns

Add printer wizard (XP)
Hello list I have been really wowed by samba 3 so far, i just have one last mission to complete... please help! I have samba 3.0.2a-SuSE installed on a SuSE 9.0 box. It uses winbind to authenticate against a win server 2003 box - this seems to work fine, users can own files and this is shown when getfacl is run on the shares (owned by DOMAIN\User). The last problem i have is adding printers...

OCFS2 1.2/1.6
We are in the process of migrating to new database servers. Our current RAC clusters are running OCFS2 1.2.9 on RHEL 4. Our new servers are running OCFS2 1.6 OEL5. If possible, we would like to minimize the amount of data that needs to move as we migrate to the new servers. We have the following questions: 1. Can we mount an existing OCFS2 1.2 volume on a servers running OCFS2 1.6?

WinXP client always connects as Gaia\Guest
All attempts to connect to our Samba server, share "\data" from any Windows client fails. I'm trying to get samba to prompt the windows user with a login box, have them enter the samba username/password, then head onto the share. If I use in the address field the following: \\gaia\data /user:woellki a dialog box appears, with the username field greyed out "Gaia\Guest"

I have come across various postings, some to this list, with people that are experiencing similar problems. However I have not found any information as to the cause/solution. The problem is as follows. I have the following group configurations in

Samba - Cups - WinXP SP2 Client
Hi All, I have a samba Server 3.0.14 installed on Ubuntu. I also have cups 1.1.23 installed. I have migrated an existing nt4 domain using this howto: http://de.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/ntmigration.html#id2570211 Samba is my PDC now, and no more windows servers are on the net. I have a network Printer Kyocera 1800+ Mita which is correctly configured via cups. I have preconfigured 3
