PostgreSQL & SELinux problem
Hi. I just installed Centos 4. I''m pretty sure that I chose to have it install postgresql but when the system came up, it wasn''t there. No worries. I installed it from the net with ''yum''. Unfortunately, when I started it up and it tried to init the database, I got a bunch of SELinux errors: Mar 3 13:24:22 dirty kernel: audit(1109874262.006:0): avc:

The primary goal of Baltra is to provide a Mac OS X compatible AFP file sharing service with Samba 3.0 compatibility. samba + MacOS X
Hi, I have got problem with samba 2.2.5a and Mac OS X 10.2.6. I my network the samba is working great, but when I connected the Mac system, I can see on it every file with size 16 MB. So when I try to burn 50 files 1 kB each, I can't because MacOS is taking size 16 MB of each. When I try to burn the same files from windows sharing, there every file have got size 4 kb, so it is ok.Where should

Netatalk and Samba???
Hi all, Looking for a "best practices" way to share out to both Mac and PC easily. I know Windoze enables the same sharepoint for both the mac and pc shares and there don't seem to be any real "problems" by doing that. However I work in an environment which forces us to utilize Win9x through XP as well as OS 9 through 10.x on the mac side. I need a user friendly way to

Mac OS X canonically decomposed UTF-16 filenames
Hi. I'd like to find some way for Samba to convert the filenames created by Macintosh OS X into something windows can use. According to their docs: http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/macosx/Essentials/SystemOverview/FileSystem/chapter_9_section_13.html filenames are stored as canonically decomposed Unicode 2.1 in UTF-16 format (a sequence of 16-bit codes) Samba running on a

RH 9, Samba 2.2.8 and Mac OS X Clients
Hi, we run a RH9 samba 2.2.8 ext3 Server and have some problems with MacOS X Clients: They aren't allowed to write directories containing files to any of our shares. I connect to the sambaserver with smb://servername/sharename and a samba user. This user is allowed to create new folders and he can copy files into this folder. But if he tries to copy the local folder containing files to

Cook's distance
Dear useRs, I have some trouble with the calculation of Cook's distance in R. The formula for Cook's distance can be found for example here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cook%27s_distance I tried to apply it in R: > y <- (1:400)^2 > x <- 1:100 > lm(y~x) -> linmod # just for the sake of a simple example >

Per-user home filesystems and OS-X Leopard anomaly
I encountered an issue that people using OS-X systems as NFS clients need to be aware of. While not strictly a ZFS issue, it may be encounted most often by ZFS users since ZFS makes it easy to support and export per-user filesystems. The problem I encountered was when using ZFS to create exported per-user filesystems and the OS-X automounter to perform the necessary mount magic. OS-X

Mac .DS_Stores
Hi all. We have a file server using samba with a lot of Mac clients. Mac uses files called .DS_Store to store information about the layout of the files in the directory. We have a hierarchal storage system, and don't want to back up the thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of .DS_store files. Currently we have a policy in place that these files don't get backed up, but they

macintosh file clutter on samba filesystems.
I have a client who has a bunch of macs accessing some samba shares, and they write these ._filename and .DS_STORE files all over the place, he would perfer it to not write these files at all. Anyone ran into this issue? what would be the best way to prevent these files from getting written onto the shares? veto? -- Matt Pruett <entelin@logicaldreams.net>

Insufficient Disk Space error
Howdy, folks. I searched through the Google groups, and was surprised not to find anything that matches my problem. I've installed winex in Gentoo. The apps start up wonderfully, but during the installation process, I get an error about insufficient disk space. My .winex/config file contains the following entry: [Drive C] "Path" = "/c" "Type" = "hd"
