Samba3.0.1 - can't join new XP Pro pc to domain]
When adding machines to a Samba-2.2 controlled domain, the ?add user
script? was
used to create the UNIX identity of the Machine Trust Account. Samba-3
introduces
a new ?add machine script? that must be specified for this purpose.
Samba-3 will not
fall back to using the ?add user script? in the absence of an ?add
machine script?.

Samba3.0.1 - can't join new XP Pro pc to domain
We have a very simple samba PDC setup using smbpasswd. About 10 days ago,
I migrated from RH8/Samba2.2.7 to Fedora/Samba3.0.1 successfully. Now all
morning, I've been trying to add another XP Pro PC to the domain without
success. The following message appears after typing in the root
id/password as part of joining the domain.
The following error occured attempting to join the domain

usrmgr.exe problems / samba3.0.1 LDAP
Hello,
I'm using Samba 3.0.1 with LDAP backend running as a PDC here. When I
start up usrmgr.exe from Windows NT, it will read all the users (or
computers, for srvmgr.exe) in the domain and report them back correctly.
However, whomever I am logged in as ( including gid 512 users) it will not
let me see details or change anything. In the logs after trying to view a
users details I will get

Hi everyone!
I've googled alot for this, and found *some* people with similar

Samba panic in encoding
Hi,
Urgent help is needed ..
I just upgraded Samba2.2.8a to Samba3.0.1rc1, but the fold I created before
on a share can not be accessed anymore. Say, there is a folder "??folder"
with some German characters ), it can be accessed in Samba2.2.8a; but it
can NOT be accessed in Samba3.0.1rc1, it says 'The folder was moved or
removed" on a Win2k client. I understand the reason

read failed after messages of non existing harddisks
Hi,
some time ago I removed some physical disks from a server and now I'm
still getting dmesg messages like:
sd 0:2:2:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00040001
end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 0
And all lvm tools still grumbel about that disks too:

ext3 bug?
Hi,
I have a severe filesystem crash on a machine with a single ext3 filesystem.
It is the second time that this happens to me (on two different machines that
are identical in hardware setup and mostly in software - I cloned them when
I started to work).
It looks like the journal (or something else, i am not an expert here) has
gone wild and overwritten loads of inodes. I have a single filesys

disk device lvm iscsi questions ....
Hi,
I have an iscsistorage which I attached to a new centos 6.3 server. I
added logic volumes as usual, the block devices (sdb & sdc) showed up in
dmesg; I can mount and access the stored files.
Now we did an firmware software update to that storage (while
unmounted/detached from the fileserver) and after reboot of the storage
and reatache the iscsi nodes I do get new devices. (sdd &

The docs say that libvirtd has to listen on the TCP port ... checked that:
# netstat -alnp | grep libv
