Roaming profiles migration
Hi,
I've to migrate transparently a NT4 PDC to a SAMBA-LDAP-PDC with 1000
users. Each user has a roaming profile on the NT server.
Of course, I want to migrate all the roaming profiles automaticaly on
the Samba server without any intervention on clients ! How can do that ?
How to preserve the ownership of each profile ?
Thank you,

winbindd - NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi,
I've joined my new SAMBA-3 in a NT4 PDC using the administrator user.
The winbindd daemon is started but when I try :
wbinfo -g, I see in the log file :
could not enumerate domain groups! Error:NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Which could be the reasons of this error ?
Thank you,

idmap mapping questions
Hi,
I've setup a samba 3 server. The mapping between SID and uid is done by
idmap. When a user create a file on the server, the owner of this file
cannot be resolved by Linux (the uid cannot be resolved to the human
name). Then in smb.conf list (for example : printer admin) I've to setup
the uid of a user and not his real name otherwise the user is considered
as unknown !
How to deal

What's happend when the UID/SID mapping changes for a computer account ?
Hi,
Could you please tell me, what's happend when the UID/SID mapping
changes for a computer account ?
In my previous mail, I explain that suddenly every computers of my
domain was unable to connect to our samba logon server.
Before this problem, a 'net rpc vampire' was done to resynchronize the
samba ldap-sam with the NT4 PDC, and samba has been restarted, I suspect
that after

Two differents sambaSID ! Very strange !
Hi,
I've configured the SambaSID of my domain manualy with "net setlocalsid
S-1-...."
I've done a check with "net getlocalsid" and everything seems to be ok,
but when I add a new user with smbpasswd, his sambaSID doesn't
correspond to the Domain SambaSID ! And in the LDAP directory, the
sambaSID of the sambaDomain ObjectClass doens't correspond to the

wbinfo -c duplicate entry
Hi,
With "wbinfo -c user", a entry is created in winbind_idmap.tdb. But if I
retype the same command with same username a second entry (with a
different uid) is created in tdb file.
Is behavior normal ?

Group mapping
Hi everybody,
Since two days I'm trying to migrate a whole NT4 PDC to Samba-3 with the
"net rpc vampire".
Each user and computer accounts are correctly added in LDAP directory.
But for every account this message appears during the migration :
Primary group of xxxx has no mapping!
An other problem is that none of the 558 groups is added in LDAP
directory. Then, in my smb.conf

LDAP access problem
Hi,
My Samba-3.0.0 is configured as PDC. I've joined a W2k wks on this domain and everything works perfectly.
However, when I try to add ACL on a file or directory located on the server, the display of the 1700 users and 570 groups take a while (20-30 sec), the slapd process use about 90% of CPU.
In the slapd.conf
index objectClass pres,eq
index uidNumber eq
index gidNumber eq

Windows clients reboot when opening document on the Samba server
Hi,
I'm using a Samba 3.0.7 as PDC and files server. Everything works fine
except for several windows stations. Sometimes those stations reboot
automaticaly when a winword document (find on the file server) is
opened. There is no problem if the document is on the local disk.
I've already disabled oplocks but without success.
This problem occurs only with read-write file. If the unix

ACL permissions with XP problem
Wondering if anyone can help...
here is my setup:
RedHat 7.3 with XFS (using the XFS install disk)
After installation I'd downloaded 2.2.7 src rpm from redhat and rebuilt it
with the --with-acl-support option in the samba.spec file
then upgraded the resulting rpm files
I've added the machine accounts and made root a smb user
I can log in successfully(after applying the xp registry hack),

Secondary Groups and Group Mapping
We are having what appears to be two main issues in our attempt to setup Samba 3.0.0 compiled from src on Solaris 8. We are using Samba to provide Unix shares on W2K clients, and to authenticate against a W2K Active Directory server. OpenLDAP is used on the Samba side for the UID/GID to SID mappings.
The first issue deals with the file sharing. Even if a file gives full permission to one of a

3.0.1rc2 LDAP - problems joining domain
Hi,
I'm back on the list ;-)
I seem to be having some trouble getting W2K machines to join the domain in
3.0.1rc2. I haven't looked at this in detail since 2.2.8a but it looks like
the account gets created in LDAP and then it has trouble setting the password
appropriately. I believe this is the relevant part of the log:

Problem with SID
Hello all
I have a Samba-3.0.0 server configured as PDC running agains openldap.
So I have an entry of the form:
sambaSID S-1-5-21-xxxxx-yyyyy-zzzz-rid
in my dircectory
If I check the properties of a file under Windows on the PDC I get the
information all right displaying the owner
of the file as: user[Domain\user]
Now I have a couple of other Samba-3.0.0 servers which are not configured
