adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a
cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some
users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a
printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and
installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the
printer without installing. I know that it's

netlogon script generation
Can anyone point me to a doc or a script that shows how to generate netlogon script on the
fly and supports users having multiple groups? I tried the Perl script referenced at
<http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/AdvancedNetworkManagement.html> but I believe it only
supports the user being a member of one group.

winxp + sp3 = samba-shared printer hangs the system
hi,
since I upgraded some winxp-pro sp2 client to sp3, my samba-shared
printers are no-longer usable :-/
With sp3, if I run notepad and choose the men? File-Print, the "print"
window hangs and does not show any printer for about 1 minute! The
same thing happens when I click on the men? Start-settings-Printer and
faxes.
With sp2, everything works correctly and I can browse all my

login scripts --what to use
Hi,
We're setting up a PDC, and would like to have a login script to deliver
the mapped drives to users in particular groups, and connect to
printers. The printer drivers come from the [print$], share.
Does anyone have any good resources for this? What's the easiest and
simplest thing to get going --vbscript or batch files?
Thanks,
chris

how do you manage printers on workstations?
How do you manage printers on Windows workstations?
What I mean, suppose you have many classrooms, different printers (which
sometimes change) in these classroms - how do you manage which
workstation (or a group of them) will use which printer?
So far I've been using WPKG for that - as I described here:
http://wpkg.org/wiki/index.php/Printer_configuration
But somehow I feel it

Multiple Login scripts
Hi all,
Just a quick question about login scripts for a large number of users who
change rooms a lot.
I have several rooms each with a printer, and nearly a thousand users divided
into two main groups - pupils and teachers who change rooms on a routine
basis. Is it possible to set up multiple login scripts that would be executed
in sequence i.e. run by user is %u, and machine is %m is it

Samba-Cups: all works except browsing when printer is not defined in smb.conf
Cups 1.2.7
Debian Etch with Samba 3.0.24
Clients: WinXP SP3 (with Firewall completely off for testing)
When I define a printer specifically in smb.conf, they show up as shared
printers in WinXP. But when I follow the normal way (see below) to load all
from cups they don't.
I followed mainly the latest SAMBA-HOWTO (chapter 21-22)
The only error I see in log.smbd when accessing the

serial port problems: micro flashing
I am new to this mailing list. I apologize if any needed information is
missing.
I know this is a bit much to ask of wine's current serial port
implementation, I am hoping someone has maybe figured this out already?
Or can help me further the debugging process, I'd rather be part of the
solution then simply another complaint about wine's serial port.

PrintUIEntry for NT4?
For Win2K, I've been using RunDLL32 printui.dll,printuientry to do a bunch
of different printer related stuff (most notably, mapping printers and
setting the default).
Looks like NT4 doesn't have the same stuff. Is there anything classier I
can use than NET USE under NT4 (without downloading something like
Kixstart)?
Thanks for your help.

script to automatically install printers to win clients?
Hi
I have a samba server 3.0.0-15 acting as a PDC on a
Windows domain (98, XP and 2000). Is there a way to
automatically install printers to windows clients
when users log in? Maybe by running a logon
script...
Thank you in advance.

so i would like to put drivers on my samba server in $print
in howto they said in section "Add printer wizard driver installation" chap 20 :
" Do not click on Yes! Instead, click on No in the error dialog. Now you will be presented with the printer properties window. From here, the way to assign a driver to a printer is open.

Administrator-installed printers unavailable to regular users
Hi all,
I'm having a very strange problem with printers under 3.0.10, running
on an up to date Gentoo 2005.0 box. Essentially, if I install a
Samba-networked printer on one of our NT workstations as
"administrator", it doesn't show up for all the other users of that
particular machine. It's as if they don't have any printers installed.
What's more, none of these

Samba 2.2.3 Windows Printer Drivers definitions
Hi,
I have a question about the assignment of printer drivers
for windows
to my printers in printcap.
How do I configure a printer located in my printcap to be
recognised
by a windows pc as the right model?
Where is the mapping supposed to be saved?
I have RH 7.2, samba 2.2.3 and lprng running on a PPro 200
Compaq.
My intention is that it will serv as a queue server for
about 100 printers.

Fwd: Re: Samba 3.4 / 3.5: Printer settings getting lost on server
Nobody who can help use with this issue?
A developer already began to fix it 3/4 year ago, but never created a patch
that finally fix the whole problem.

Linux and Printing via smbprint
Hi there
Looking at the archives I didn't find a solution to the following problem
we have here:
Printing from our linux-server (wagner) to an intel printserver (PS652D8F)
doesn't work.
Here's the stuff we know/tried:
wagner:~ # smbclient -L //PS652D8F -N
added interface ip=10.0.0.10 bcast=10.0.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Got a positive name query response from 10.0.0.40 ( 10.0.0.40

Printer Device Modes
Greetings Admins,
The howto details setting the device mode using a windows client:
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/printing.html#id2552900
Is there a way to script this process? We support 260+ printers and
it's a pain in the ass. (My wrist is hurting!)

Printer Problem
I have been using Samba as a print server successfully for quite some
time. I have one issue that I can't seem to solve. We use a crappy
piece of accounting software that requires the printer be set up with
spool settings as:
Start printing after last page is spooled.
If start printing immediately is set, the checks do not print correctly.
On a Windows computer, if I go to
