Small glitch in howto
Hi list, I'm on the way to translate the BDC Howto into french, and encountered a too quick Yjjjp (copy+down{3}+paste). It is in the table 6.1, last cell : Use rsync to synchronize the TDB database files from the PDC to the BDC. should read Use rsync to synchronize the smbpasswd file from the PDC to the BDC. RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer). Samba3 and Domain Admin group mapping and use pbms.
Bon app?tit ? tous, I have a small problem regarding delegation of domain administrator rights to a 'normal' user (eg. not root or uid!=0). I maybe fooled myself believing it is possible in Samba3, reading Samba-HOWTO-Collection.html#WKURIDS, that a user could be also a domain admin. I've created group mappings (with good RIDs) for main groups (eg. SID-512, SID-513, SID-514,

[Bug?Report] ldapsam duplication of output if two ldapsam sources
Goog morning, First of all, my setup : - Samba 3.0.1pre1 to Samba 3.0.1pre3 (RPM home recompiled from samba.org SRPM); - OpenLDAP 2.0.27 (stock RH9) + Solaris RootDSE patch, all on RH9; - Two LDAP servers (one master, one slave, replication of all the base); - Samba setup as PDC + BDC, using Samba3 LDAP schema. I noticed a few days ago in the NT4 srvtools that the first query (when opening

S3 domain member shares won't authorize secondary groups, only for W98
Hi list, After kudos, time comes again with problems. This time, still on the same setup as before : - Linux PDC with ldapsam, ran by RH9, OpenLDAP 2.0.27 (stock RH9 RPM+Solaris RootDSE patch), Samba 3.0.1rc1 recompiled from SRPM ; - Linux BDC is the same ; The PDC and BDC are working Ok, so I won't include the smb.conf from these. - Solaris 9 domain member (jersey) gets Posix accounts

Add a preamble to documentation
Hi list, hi John, having seen last week a post (see http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?m=107341768923846) that remind me some quirks I encountered, I'd like to see a preamble added to the chapter 12 of the howto. It concerns the diffent types of admin you will need in a PDC setup. I say preamble, but it could be found anywhere else, as long as it could be found (I have lost long hours

CATIA V5 & SAMBA Problem
I'm not sure if the problem I'm about to describe is related to configuration or a limitation in SAMBA, hopefully you'll know the answer... We have a SAMBA server that provides Windows workstations access to CATIA V5 CAD data which resides on other NFS servers. The SMB shared directories are all under a single directory called 'catiav5': /catiav5 /server1

S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Hi all, I've just set up a Samba 3.0.0 PDC (LDAP+nss) on FreeBSD 5.1, with CUPS as default print stack, which begins to work nicely. I'm configuring a PDF pseudo printer, with the following share : [pdfwriter] comment = Imprimante PDF : g?n?re un fichier PDF printing = bsd path = /var/tmp printable = Yes print command = /usr/local/bin/printpdf -u

use sysconf instead of NGROUPS_MAX
Currently samba (2.0.6) relies on the NGROUPS_MAX define. This makes the number of allowed simultaneous (per-user) secondary groups a compile-time decision. $ find . -name \*.c | xargs grep NGROUPS ./source/lib/system.c: if (setlen > NGROUPS_MAX) { ./source/lib/replace.c: gid_t grouplst[NGROUPS_MAX]; ./source/lib/replace.c: while (i < NGROUPS_MAX &&

NGROUPS_MAX on Linux
Linux has just raised the NGROUPS_MAX limit from 32 to 64k. In doing an audit of various tools, openssh turned up as having incorrect groups handling. Almost no user-space apps really care about NGROUPS_MAX. A proposed patch (untested, since the CVS build won't compile on my RH box.. :-/) : What think? [patch] Samba 3.0.1pre1 : unable to link tdbbackup on Solaris 9
Hi to all, On Solaris 9 (and below I think), Samba 3.0.1pre1's tdbbackup now needs snprintf which is not included in Solaris. The following patch on master Makefile.in (~samba/source) should ease the compilation of tdbbackup : diff -u Makefile.in.orig Makefile.in --- Makefile.in.orig Mon Oct 20 11:06:54 2003 +++ Makefile.in Mon Oct 20 11:07:09 2003 @@ -629,7 +629,7 @@

NeXT // Broken _POSIX_SAVED_ID patch
Ok, for those running NeXT and other platforms with broken/missing _POSIX_SAVED_ID please try this patch, and anyone that has spent any amount of time dealing with this problem. I believe it's right. BTW, this patch is no where near as big as it looks. The patch was done against an earily version of the tree which had an issue with white space. - Ben --- ../openssh/uidswap.c Sun Apr 22

Patch for NGROUPS_MAX on FreeBSD with more then 64 groups
Hi on FreeBSD it happens that without this patch the number of groups is limited to 32. Since we need a greater number of groups, we send this patch. Hope it is approved early. Adding an AD group to /etc/sudoers?
Jeff, After ssh try to run: newgrp it and then sudo. See if it will work, then you'll have to figure out what's going on with the users groups membership. RE : Successfuly Building Samba 2.2.X under HP-UX 11i with gcc
Hello, just for my information, what happens if you append "-D_HPUX_SOURCE" ? Some (long) time ago (HP-UX 10.x), it would help compiling foreign software on HP-UX. But I had only at hand the HP compiler. Regards, J?r?me -------- Message d'origine-------- De: Hughes, Martin [mailto:Martin.Hughes@uk.thalesgroup.com] Date: jeu. 9/18/2003 13:05 ?:
