Practical guide to migrate from tdbsam to ldapsam
Hello people! I'd like to know about a practical guide which helps to migrate users from a perfect working Samba PDC running with tdbsam backend to a new backend to LDAP. Does "pdbedit -i xxx -e xxx" make all the job? My network is growing and I need a directory service to help find people so I'd like to see a LDAP server running well with Samba without rebuild my user

create smbpasswd/tdbsam from ldapsam/LDAP query?
As some of you may know, I'm trying to set up Samba BDC on a disk- and fan-less tiny mipsel_CPU router running OpenWRT distribution. I already managed to compile Samba 3.0.21a and OpenLDAP 2.3.18 for it, and they seem to work fine. The problem is, this tiny distribution for routers doesn't seem to have anything like Name Service Switch (NSS), and relies solely on /etc/passwd and

Re: CentOS 3.6, samba-3.0.9-1.3E.5 tdbsam to ldapsam export
Robert, First off, the Samba Technical mailing list is not a help facility. Its purpose is purely for discussion of samba design and code implementation issues. Please confine your email to the normal Samba list. There are several avenues for Samba support: 1. No predefined Groups
Hello, I have set up a Samba-Server (samba-3.0.23a-0.1.34.x86_64.rpm and after that samba-3.0.23c-0.1.36.x86_64.rpm) as PDC and tdbsam-passdb backend. I can add XP-Computers and Users to the Domain, but the Domain-Users has problems with Access-Rights on the Win-XP-Systems. The Reason is (i think so) that samba has not generated the typical Groups: Result from 'net groupmap list' =>

For instance: - I added a Windows pc to the domain last week, when I started 'Active directory users and computers' today on a windows pc I could not see that pc, after rebooting one of the DC's the pc

Mailing list convert scripts not working on wiki
I'm trying to download Julian Fitzell's scripts to convert mbox to Maildir format from the wiki page at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/MailFormat But when I click on the links for the scripts it just sends me back to the same page rather than downloading the scripts. winbind trouble
hello list! I am using a self compiled samba release 2.2.5 now since the end of august. It is running with winbind and acl (xfs) options enabled for about 4 months generally without problems. Usermapping against a W2K ADS is working perfectly well: Ownerships and ACLs of files and directories created by users can well be seen on output of ls -l and getfacl. BUT: typing "wbinfo -u" and

Machine account in smbpasswd is wrong
Hallo, I can't join a win2K machine on my domain. I create the machine account dynamically in my smb.conf by the following line: add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -d /dev/null -g 200 -s /bin/false -M %u Now a machine account is created and added to my users (this part works ok) Samba also generates a machine account for samba (I could not find a line for that in my smb.conf) But the

migrating from Samba3 with tdbsam to samba4 AD server?
What's the best path to do this? I currently have a SAMBA3 domain controller using tdbsam and would like to migrate to Samba4 as an AD controller. I assume that this will require loading my existing user database into ldap. What's the best path for this? Should I look for a samba3 to samba4 migration, continuing to use tdbsam in samba4, and then convert to ldap, or convert my existing
