Possible Security Hole (Bug?)
Thank you Rowland and everyone else for your responses.
I now understand the two options here - it appears that I have been
implementing the first one since I had previously assigned UID to
DOM\administrator via RFC2307.
I have narrowed down the issue a little bit to exactly what it is that I
still do not understand.
Since I have assigned the UID to the domain admin account, this

Samba 3.0.7 & adding machines. Wrong primary group.
Hi!
Some time ago (samba 3.0.1?) I added machines to my domain with
'srvmrg.exe' and all went as I expect. IIRC.
If I am now adding machines, all machine-accounts have the initially group
"users" set instead of "machines". But they should't.
| add machine script = useradd -d /dev/null -g machines -s /bin/false %u
This is, because even if adding machines to the

Rsync 3.0.1pre3 released
I have released rsync 3.0.1pre3 for testing. This version contains a
couple more bug fixes since the 3.0.1pre2 release:
- Don't allow a daemon-exclude of .* or */ to affect a (vital) "." dir.
- Fixed a glitch in the path-checking of the daemon-exclude code that
could check a relative arg against the wrong current directory.
- A couple minor chdir() improvements in the

Samba 3.0.1pre3 available for download
This is another preview release of the Samba 3.0.1 code
base and is provided for testing only. This release
is *not* intended for production servers. Use at
your own risk. There have been several bug fixes
since 3.0.0 that we feel are important to make
available to the Samba community for wider testing.
This release does fix a few core dumps in the 3.0.1pre2
release and corrects point-n-print

3.0.1pre3 -> 3.0.1rc1: doesn't want to connect to itself
Hello
With smb.conf below, samba 3.0.1pre3 is capable of connecting to itself
by smbclient -L oberon <empty_password>. Also domain logons work.
With 3.0.1rc1 it just writes

3.0.1pre3 - date/time discrepancy in the log
I'm using the very latest 'version 3.0.1pre3 protocol version 30', on
both ends, and have seen a date/time discrepancy in the log on the
receiver. The sending machine (machineA) is in US CDT while the receiver
is in US PDT. Both sender and receiver have their time set correctly.

three timestamps are correct:)

Group management
I'm trying to add a user to the domain admins group in
vain. I've tried using the windows usrgrp tool. I've
tried doing 'pdbedit -u username -G

tried 'net groupmember ADD 'Domain Admins' username.
The user I'm trying to add is already in the unixgroup
that's mapped to the NTgroup. Does any one know

Dialing delay when using Zap channels
Good day,
I've got around to installing an X100P card in my computer to try out
asterisk. I noticed (and people who were testing with me also noticed) that
when dialing from my SIP soft phone to the PSTN, the ringer tone changes
after 2-3 seconds, precisely when the Zap channel takes over the call.
Is it possible to eliminate the first ringing? Is there a reason to this

Building Samba 3.0.1 on Solaris8 x86
Good day,
I just tried building Samba 3.0.1 on a generic Solaris8 x86 box with ACL
support as the only configure option and the build fails quite early. Has
anyone experienced a similar problem? This is a very vanilla build, using gcc
3.0.
