Problem: samba refuse my user with error message : NT_STATUS_NO_ SUCH_USER
Hi all,
I'm trying to make samba authenticate to my Active Directory
Domain. I already configured and tested Kerberos5 and joined my machine to
my domain with no problems, getent passwd and group give me the correct
output also wbinfo give a good output too, and I can logon using my domain
user to SSH and to my server console, so I assume my Kerberos config is
correct. Also I

Samba and trusted domains
Hi All,
I installed samba 3.0.22 and join it to Win2003 AD domain.
Users from my domain can access the samba shares successfully.
My problem is that users from trusted domains can not access to my samba
shares
Wbinfo -m - show all the trusted domains
Wbinfo -u - show all the users include the trusted domains users.
Any Idea?

authentication problem with openldap-2.2.24
My problem consists of Samba + Winbindd + Ldap + Kerberos not
authenticating with Active Directory. For example, if I do 'smbclient -L
localhost -U username%password(active directory account)' I get
NT_STATUS_LOGIN_FAILURE. Ive debugged for quite sometime trying to
pinpoint some sort of configuration that needs to be changed or added.
To my experience I think the problem resolves at

win2k will not authenticate when logging in
For a few weeks now we have been trying to research why our domain
will not authenticate when we are logging in. The Samba logs indicate
that our computers properly add into the domain, however after
rebooting and attempting to log in we recieve an error message stating
that our computer account is not in the domain.
After reading the logs we have realized that Samba is indeed recieving

Hello folks,
It seems that I am still having the trust issues I encountered with 3.0.28a
with 3.0.30.
My production servers are running 3.0.28 and that is working very well.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

another one of those "cannot authenticate against AD" posts :(
Hello,
I had a perfectly good setup with samba being a domain member, and
domain users accessing their shares, since beta1. A month and several
updates from M$ later, clients were no longer able to log on to the
samba machine. I know this must be related to the updates, since there
have been absolutely no configuration / application modifications on the
linux box, and clients who forgot to

Samba 3.0.0beta1, NT4 Joining a Domain Problems
Hi,
I'm trying to test Samba 3.0.0 beta 1, and so far, one problem I have
spent the last couple hours trying to solve, is a problem I am having
joining the domain with an NT4 workstation.
The samba server is a PDC, and when I try to join the workstation to the
samba controlled domain using the root account (which worked on Samba
2.2.8 just fine), I get a message on the NT workstation that it

LDAP problem
Hello,
I have a problem with my PDC server.
It runs samba + openLDAP. It used to work fine.
The machine was stopped today because of a power supply failure,
and since it was restarted i have problems connecting to the domain.
- The ldap data was restored from a ldif file, the ldap seems to work
fine. when i type
ldapsearch -x
I see the contents of the ldap data.
- When I try :

Password trouble with LDAP (eDirectory)
Hi All,
I have a strange problem with passwords, stored in LDAP.
When i try to logon as a user with the correct password, access is
denied and the log says
check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [administrator] ->
[administrator] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
When i try to logon a user with incorrect password, access is (of
course) denied, but the log now says

ADS authentication.. almost works
Hello,
Beta 3, ./configure --with-ads & krb5, slackware system (no PAM).
Things seem to be correctly configured, done the net join part without
errors, I can use e.g. smbclient -L or wbinfo -u, but users cannot acces
shares on the Samba machine. Snip from the log (trying to connect from
the domain controller on which I'm logged as administrator):

Operation not permitted mounting samba-share via cifs
Hi everybody,
I want to use my samba-shared Homedirectory from my Linux-Server on my
Linux-workstation. I was using smbfs until now, but since i upgraded my
hardware i'm not any more able to use smbfs, i get error-messages
(timeouts) in the kernel logs and I/O-Errors on the console. Having this
problems i read about cifs and that's much better, nicer, sexyer and
faster than smbfs.

Just a simple smbpasswd authentication won't work
Hello List.
We have a number of working ADS servers. One of out clients is not in the Kerberized domain so there users log in via NIS. Having looked at the options for enabling NIS authentication I have decided to use the smbpasswd. Now I can't get that to work.
After using smbpasswd to create two users, one created locally, in the /etc/passwd, and one that exists already in NIS. Not only

"conversion error" and NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi list,
sorry in case I do ask a FAQ, but I did in fact find some more mentions
of a problem like this, but always without a solution.
I upgraded our Samba server today (from 2.10/SuSE to 3.0x/Debian) and
have problems with some of the clients (Windows XP). When trying to
access a share from these clients, I get a NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE, and

share connection dropped after 10 minutes
Hello everybody,
I have to face a problem here with a samba share disconnecting after
about 10 minutes.
Situation:
- debian woody, samba 3.0.14a
- server configured as PDC
- typically 100-150 smbd processes running
everything runs smoothly but one client (W2K SP4) that obviously needs a
quasi static connection to the PDC.
The client runs a software that stores regularly data on a dedicated

Authentication via PAM posixAccounts in RH EL ASv3
To anyone who can help,
I'm trying to setup samba to authenticate through PAM (ldap) but can't
find /consistent/ documentation for this.
POP/IMAP/ and local login works via pam_ldap, and samba was compiled
--with-pam.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had any joy with this setup.
