problem with samba 3.0 beta
Hi!
I am using samba 3.0 beta as a PDC with ldap authentication.
I am able to login to win 98 machine with samba as PDC.
The problem i am facing is samba requires /etc/passwd entry of user in addition
to ldap entry. I am pasting my smb.conf for ref.
Is it possible to use only ldap account so that i do not have to add /etc/passwd
entry.
I have not added ldap entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf file.

Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi
I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows
PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients.
When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the
number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the
"1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do
the same on Linux (with the lpr

cups page_log strangeness
Hi there
I just upgraded from 3.0.23d to 3.0.25b. The server acts as PDC and
print server.
The setup is that Win clients automtically download the printers from
samba. Worked all right so far.
Here is what I did.
Compiled the new version and installed it.
Stopped smbd and nmbd and copied everything under /old-samba/var/ to
/new-samba/var/
"smb.conf" stayed the same.

Samba and Cups - number of copies
Hi all...
I need some docs about how to intergrate cups with samba...
I have install samba 3.2.5 and cups 1.3.8 on Debian Lenny system.
I have install a printer ( Ricoh Aficio 3245C PS ) and have work fine...
But when I follow the job on /var/log/cups/page_log, I always see that
number of copies is 1, doesn't matter if the jobs has 5 or 10 pages...
It's always show 1 on page_log...

paid-for-print
Hi there,
I'm newbie in Samba, so I beg for your excuse if my questions are
stupid.
Is it possible to use Samba as a "paid-for-print" server?
If U know something about another free "paid-for-print" software, please
let me know.

Samba/CUPS printing again
Hello...again...Y'all are getting sick of me, aren't ya? ;)
Anyway, I am having quite the dilemna about printing. I'm using samba
2.2.7a aong with cups-1.1.5. I know this is an old version of cups, but
this is a production server and I don't want to fool with it yet. Anyway,
we have 2 printers: HP laser Jet 4 Plus and an Office Jet R80. each are
running off a jet direct. One

client ip no longer listed in cups page log
Greetings Admins,
We use samba 3.0.7 with cups 1.1.20 to serve printing to XP clients.
samba and cups originally sat on the same debian machine. Due to load
issues, we've moved cups to a separate debian machine and added the
'cups server =' directive to smb.conf.
After this, the XP client IP is no longer listed in cups page_log, the
samba server IP is listed instead. We need

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a
PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile
starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to
the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating
a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

CentOS 6: Logrotate / selinux problem
Ever since a recent power failure I have been getting a Logrotate error. My
machine is on a UPS -- it shutdown cleanly, but I suspect that its BIOS/RTC
battery is dead, since the machine came up thinking it was 1982 :-(. I reset
the clock and everything is fine, *except* I had to delete Logrotate's state
files (which had bad dates). But now Logrotate is raising the error:

cups printing and user names from trusted domains
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Im currently running some tests for a samba/CUPS based print server.
The print server is a member of an NT domain and uses winbind to import
NT domain users. Users accessing the print server will be not from the
same domain but from trusted domains.
Everything basically seems to work, once you use sufficiently new
versions of cups and samba. (I'm on Debian

Print quota still not working
Hi all,
I posted about this issue few days back, but haven't gotten any
appropriate response yet. Also, I haven't progressed any further by
searching google or mailing lists.
I am running CUPS-1.1.19-final and samba-2.2.8a on a highly available
Debian server. I grabbed "cups-samba-1.1.19 drivers for Windows" from
Cups website for automatic driver download to work on Windows

shared printer won't print
Hi everyone,
I have a properly configured printer (with cups) attached to the
computer running the samba server. It prints when issued within the
command line (lp). When I try to print via samba, the printer doesn't
react. I have configured the smb.conf using the man page of
cupsaddsmb. The samba log files don't report anything at all (tried to
turn the verbose loggin but failed). The

upgrade from 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a; CUPS log files flooding!
Hello,
I've upgraded 2 of my Samba servers (out of 100+ Samba servers) in my live
environment from version 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a.
I'm using CUPS as print system for Samba (Samba is compiled with cups-devel)
and I use the "Point 'n Print" mechanism of Samba (Windows) to provide XP
users with the appropriate drives for the attached printers.
CUPS is configured with RAW queues and
