Hi
I have the following problem.
I like to make changes in the smb.conf during the samba server is still

And it should take affect this updates without restarting the server.
Sometimes it works, sometimes after long waiting, sometimes it does not

Is there some options to set, or do you know another solution ?
Thank you

Win95 .bat Issue
For some reason I'm getting Access denied errors when I try to execute a
.bat file that resides on a TRU64 samba share, from a Win95 command prompt.
The drive is mapped as x:\ & for the sake of testing, the directory has been
recursively set to 777 (chmod).
Command prompt output:
x:\> x:\r235\src\ntprpst\sharc\mta\src\build_sharc_fta.bat

Longer synonym for R?
[This message is not always serious, but it addresses a real problem.]
A problem with R's present name is that it is not very well suited to
search engines, although Google at least seems to cope as long as you have
sufficient other terms to filter out Toys R Us. Initials remain a problem.
I suppose "R" is just too culty to do away with, but perhaps we could come
up with a longer

Exclude files bigger than X
Hello List!
I want to rsync a few homedirectories which also contain big *.tar or *.bin
files.
Does rsync have a option where it will NOT transfer files which are bigger
than X MB/GB.
I did have a look in man rsync, but could not really find what i am lookig
for.
If rsync does not have that feature, is there a workaround?
Cheers, Mario

How to return a big treelike list from .Call Interface (protect stack overflow)
I try to create a big treelike list structure using the RDefines/RInternal
macros. The tree carries information at each node (attribute list) and at each
leaf (vector).
My understanding is that for each node I add to the binary tree I have to
call
PROTECT(newnode = NEW_LIST(2));
and cannot UNPROTECT before I return the whole tree. Same story for node
attributes and leaf vectors. However, this

strange flock issues with glusterfs 3.0.0
Hi,
FYI:
we had glusterfs up and running with 2.0.8 and it worked fine. we decided to
upgrade to 3.0.0 and found out, that with linux 2.6.31.7 and glusterfs 3.0.0 and
the kernel fuse module, the flock() does not seem to work, i.e. apache2 php
session files distributed via glusterfs 3.0.0 make apache2 hang on LOCK_EX
we reverted back to 2.0.8 and installed glusterfs-fuse 2.7.4 and everything is

Ampersand Heartburn
Greetings all.
I''m using the Microsoft "NorthWind Traders" database "orders" table as
test data for the Rico LiveGrid JavaScript.
The problem I''m noticing is that some of the records in the "ShipName"
field contain ampersands -- which for some reason are not being escaped
by Rails.
Rails does in fact automatically escape all of the other

Using a New Builder Version
Hey, folks!
It looks like the version of Builder that''s included with Rails
doesn''t properly escape characters like ampersand in attribute
values, while the current version of Builder (2.0) does.
I''d like to use this new Builder gem, but I can''t seem to get it to
work. I''ve included the following lines at the top of the controller

Form won't accept ampersand
Hi guys,
My start_form_tag generated form will not accept a text field containing
an ampersand.
For example, the text ''A & B'' is trunacted to ''A'' in the param hash.
I know ampersands have to be encoded in URLs, but I''m surprised my form
has a problem with this. I''ve tested this in Safari and Firefox.
thanks

"@" doesn't work in the NT domain name
I am part of a large worldwide Active Directory and all of our individual
site NT domain names have an ampersand symbol in them
(for example: VWS@ROCHESTER) Samba 2.2.6pre2 and older won't join this
domain name, or allow connections to it from users in this domain. The
logs state that the domain name is "VWS_ROCHESTER", the code is squashing
the @ to an _ causing all

ampersand in local-part
I have a new email server (postfix/dovecot/mysql) with accounts
migrated from another server (different platform) and email addresses
with ampersands like "r&d at domain.com" that worked on my old email
server are not working now.
I'd like some help tracking this issue down.
Can anyone tell me if this looks like a postfix, dovecot or mysql issue?
Some log info follows.

Double encoded ampersands in form actions
My form tag looks like:
<%= form_tag :controller => "admin", :action => ''update_preset'', :id =>
@preset, :popup => params[:popup], :editor => params[:editor] %>
which I want to be rendered something like:
<form action="/admin/documents/update_preset/?editor=1&popup=1"

xend -x ampersand''s
Does anyone know if the -x option including ampersands issue has been
fixed? I found references to the bug with virt-install from rhel, but
I can''t locate anywhere that a bug was recognized with xend and
corrected.

Firefox won''t let me send ''&'' with AJAX!
Hi everyone,
I''ve encountered a HUGE problem, which may not be RoR-oriented, but
there might be a workaround somehow.
See, at this moment, I''m unable to send AJAX requests back and forth
when the information contains an ampersand (''&''). In essence, request is
never completed. The odd thing is that it only happens with Firefox (IE
and Opera works fine).
