is that it is difficult to determine when to convert. With FTP, most of the developers utilize a user defined file extension list that isn't too reliable. A coworker came up with an alternative for our FTP apps that was much more reliable. What he did was evaluate the first 1K bytes of data to determine if it was a binary or ascii file. I don't have time to work on this, but if

for this process is "root", that is correct. The PID 7247 is one of the users, but the UID shouldn't be "root" and should be the username that was authenticated during logon. Anyone have same or similar problem? and how do I prevent this problem from happening again? I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Will Sun wsun@jpl.nasa.gov (818) 354-2311 Return-Path:

Basically, what you see is nmbd listening, supposedly. It sounds like you will need a firewall to keep out requests on 137 and 138. Joel Bind interfaces only (G) This global parameter allows the Samba admin to limit what interfaces on a machine will serve SMB requests. If affects file service smbd(8) and name service nmbd(8) in slightly different ways. For name service it causes nmbd to bind to

Hi All, I'm really sad that Win2k3 server runs a lot better in a shared folder that keep a file based database that Windows 9x and WinNT clients. Explaining it better... Here in Brazil, unfortunaly we still have a lot business that is based in the old file shared database, like Dataflex, Clipper and like. Then, they need a robust and fast server to centralize that files. With Windows98

are being offered by the server. You can check also what shares are being offered by the windows boxes the same way. I wonder why the other windows machines are not showing up in network neighborhood? Try sharing some things between windows machines. Maybe you have something misconfigured on the windows side. There is a script, findsmb, which comes with samba. First turn off nmbd (killall nmbd) ,

to print. Contained within each document was the code (postscript is a computer language which runs on some printers.) to output multiple copies. That is, samba has no influence on the number of copies printed, at least with postscript printers. So, maybe this is a driver problem, not a samba problem? Shifting now to pure speculation, maybe the windows client computer and the printer need to

I *think* we're all on the same page now. My suggestion was adding an additional entry to the UPN Suffixes list, and using that suffix (without "ad.") when creating new users. This Microsoft doc [1] says: > By convention, this should map to the user's email name. The point of > the UPN is to consolidate the email and logon namespaces so that the > user only needs to

Backgroundrb-devel Digest, Vol 24, Issue 7
Hi, all. Just wondering if anyone has tried using the Paperclip file upload plugin with Backgroundrb. My current implementation uses attachment_fu - I save the file initially to the file system without generating thumbs, then a bdrb process picks up that file, generates thumbs, and saves to S3. This works fine and dandy, the only hitch is I want to save image metadata in the same table

[Fwd: samba client problems???]
Hello, I have scoured the samba archives, and have found a few suggestions to this problem, like setting registry setting on the Windows machine to allow clear text passwords, and making sure permissions are setup correctly in the smb.conf and with the directory to share... but to no avail... Can someone shed some further light on this topic. None of the prior posting's actually had a

a shoutcast server. Various posts say that you must start with shoutcast server and use icecast as the relay. (I don't want to do this because we already have a perl script written to work with ices and I don't want to have to redo it to work with shoutcast. It looks feasible but will still be quite a bit of work because there is no state saved between calls from shoutcast. In ices,

TEST 3 If you get a "connection refused" response then the smbd server may not be running. If you installed it in inetd.conf then you probably edited that file incorrectly. If you installed it as a daemon then check that it is running, and check that the netbios-ssn port is in a LISTEN state using "netstat -a". Note: You have xinetd not inetd on the redhat box. To avoid all

but this seems to just send gem looking for a specific gem at a url, rather then the more general alternate source for the gem. It looks to me like the gem server will not except a direct url. Am I missing something simple? I''d just like to be able to do the equivalent of gem install foogem --source http://gem.example.com. Thanks, -Joel

odfWeave : problems with odfInsertPlot() and odfFigureCaption()
Dear Max, dear list, I have trouble using odfInsertPlot to insert plots outside fig=TRUE chunks. My goal is to dump a bunch of (relatively uninteresting, but required) graphs from within a loop, possibly interspeded with some tables. This is not possible within a normal fig=TRUE chunk. odfInsertPlot() is able to insert a previously saved plot. When used in a fig=TRUE, results=hide chunk, it

Hello, while designing a form with the form_for tag, I m not being able to hide my text fields.
