When I try to make a copy the folder with the GIF files using Windows, the
countdown says it will take roughly half an hour (I didn't actually go
through with it). If I do the same using cp -r from the Linux box, it takes
roughly 2 seconds. I checked top and vmstat and neither seemed to show
anything unusual - in fact, Samba had pretty negligible CPU usage.
The hard drive array is SCSI,

are being offered by the server. You can check also what shares are being
offered by the windows boxes the same way.
I wonder why the other windows machines are not showing up in network
neighborhood? Try sharing some things between windows machines. Maybe you
have something misconfigured on the windows side.
There is a script, findsmb, which comes with samba. First turn off nmbd

CentOS 6 and an SAS drive, hardware
This is... odd. Got a 6.8 box, a Dell R320 lspci tells me
01:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 2008
[Falcon] (rev 03)
so it *should* accept an SAS drive. I've got a Cheetah that's a few years
old, and having pulled it out of another server (in the datecenter), I put
it in this box to zero it out for reuse... and the box refuses to see the
drive. *Nothing* in

User Administrator (and only it) access denied on member server
Hello all,
I have really strange problem with Samba 4.1.0 - regarding only one
user - Administrator.
There are 2 servers: NAS (which is DC) and CHEETAH (Which is domain member).
Have spent long time in efforts to sync UID/GID across servers (these
are used both from Linux over NFS and from Windows) - and finally
wrote the scripts to make all users/groups (even including the builtin
one, like

Fwd: [EXTERNAL] SNMP shutdown timing out
I meant to send this to the list but evidently only sent it to David.
Since sending it I've done a second test which shows what a successful
snmpset looks like.
First attachment, from the forwarded email, is nutout.txt. Second
attachment is snmpout.txt.

OpenSwan Drop Out Issue
As I said though, there's no lost ICMP packets, even when the IPSec tunnel
drops out.
I do notice a lot of these errors in the secure log though, would this be
any indication of a problem? (I'm grepping for this specific error, they're
not the only messages in there).

Confusing errors when attempting to run samba in AD DC mode
Hey All,
I don't know what's wrong, or what I may have done wrong, but I THOUGHT I followed all the correct steps to setup samba, and it's not working. Here's what I did:
D/L latest samba code (4.13.1) & extract
install dependencies
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --enable-fhs
(enable-fhs was required to get configure to run through completely)
make
make install
cp

How winbindd is working on DC/member? It ignores rfc2703 on DC, and not showing all users on member server... Where is a error?
Hi all,
Still looking for the best way to achieve consistent GID/UID mapping
on Linux servers/clients, in heterogeneous environment (Linux,
Windows, CIFS, NFS).
Current problems with UID/GID resolution prevents from using Samba4 in
environment with backups (where data may be restored on another
server) and mixed Linux/Windows workstations.
Just recently installed fresh Samba 4.1.0 on the server

RJS page.delay timing issues
Hi.
Has anyone ran into issues with the timing of page.delay. I have been
testing in firefox, for the most part, and it seems that there is no
reliability on when the page.delay timings kick in.
What happens is that sometimes it will work fine, and the countdown
looks great; other times it will just jump to the end and display
everything at once, other times it will be jerky. I''m on a

Openswan <-> VyOS
Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble connecting our current CentOS Openswan server
with a Vyos server via IPSec.
I've posted this on the VyOS forums, but haven't had many helpful
responses, so I thought I would ask here.

Mixing SCSI devices on a single i/f
I have an external HP SureStore DLT VS80 with a SCSI LVD 68 pin
interface and an external HP SureStore DAT24 with a SCSI Centronics
50 pin Narrow SE interface. The cable for the DAT has a Centronics
connector at one end and a 68 Pin Wide to Narrow terminated
connector at the other. The cable for the DLT has a LVD/SE 68 pin
connector at both ends. I have terminator blocks for both devices.

Latest openswan update does no longer connect to Cisco VPN 3000 Series
Does anyone else noticed problems after updating openswan to
openswan-2.6.32-27.2.el6_5.i686 ? In our case a connection to Cisco VPN
3000 Series would no longer work. I can see in the log an ASSERTION FAILED
error and the connection would remain in Pending phase 2.

[LLVMdev] Cross compile LLVM using gcc (powerpc and x86)
Hi there,
I hope this is the right list.
I have been trying to cross compile the LLVM 3.2 for our x86 target by using i586 cross compiler provided by Oselas toolchain (http://www.pengutronix.de/oselas/toolchain/index_de.html).
I have cross-compiled multitudes of 3rd party projects before and usually I can apply similar methods to compile the most of them.
I have however not been able to figure

Better way of Grouping?
Hello R users,
This is more of a convenience question that I hope others might find useful
if there is a better answer. I work with large datasets that requires
multiple parsing stages for different analysis. For example, compare group
3 vs. group 4. A more complicated comparison would be time B in group 3 of
group L with B in group 4 of group L. I normally subset each group with
