Group owner ID not mapped to name.
Hi, I'm using samba as a member of a W2k domain (security=DOMAIN) and winbind to unify logins with users from the W2k. The problem is that when I assign an owner user and group to a file/directory in the samba server the group is not mapped to the name of the group, the user is ok. Instead it appears the group number. [root@hserint2 fruza]# ls -l total 8 drwxrwxr-x 2 HGUV+fruza 10000

Hi everybody, I have a problem with our samba server which is working as a PDC and Print manager. The server has several printers which share to everybody. This server is using samba v.2.2.5-1 When I install a network printer in the clients (Win2000 and NTs), normally windows set up automaticly a "Lan Manager Printer Port" asociated with the printer. Well, as we have seen using the

AD integration: "getent passwd" can't see *new* users, but "wbinfo -u" can
I have two different systems (on different networks) showing this behavior. Both are running Ubuntu Dapper/606.1 LTS with samba version 3.0.22 and windows 2003 sp1 servers (not R2). AD integration is done via winbind, with nss using winbind. At some point in time (which is unknown to me), the samba server stopped seeing new users, groups, machines which are added to AD. scenario: I add a new

Source keychain credentials in Perl?
Keychain is quite a useful tool for automating SSH logins without having to use password-less keys: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/keychain/ Normally it is used like this to set the SSH_AUTH_SOC and SSH_AGENT_PID variables: source ~/.keychain/hostname-sh (This is what's in hostname-sh) SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/ssh-XXn47DUn/agent.16721; export SSH_AUTH_SOCK; SSH_AGENT_PID=16722; export

winbind offline logon = yes - stored credentials questions
If I set winbind offline logon = yes in my smb.conf file and I have my Linux box authenticating directly against an AD controller, where, and how, does samba store the user's credentials? And are the credentials encrypted? If yes, use what scheme? I could read more on this, too, but for how long are they cached? Thanks. Scott

I have joined an AD domain the usual way kinit de7b07k0@ORG1.MYDOMAIN.NET and net ads join -U de7b07k0@ORG1.MYDOMAIN.NET wbinfo -m lists the trusted domains. So far so good.
