Rsync & Samba
If anyone has time to look at this problem I would appreciate it. I think I am looking for a way to increase the "timeout" in samba (in the smb.conf file) for reporting a "down" link or "can't read xyz file". However I am writing to you folks because this problem has come up while using rsync my problem ========== We have a wan in which links from a

timeout
Hi I dont work much with syslinux and linux. But in my last test with pxelinux I woundert why the timout function is ignored by pxelinux. There is no hint in the documentation or in the web. I've figured out that the timout function doesn't work if the prompt setting is 0. timout 50 prompt 0 doesn't work I've tested it in versio 3.07, 3.06 and an "unknown" old

Channelized T1, T100P problems
I've been having some problems getting a channelized T1 working with a T100P card. Perhaps someone can help: I have an Eschelon T1 coming into a Vina Integrator box. This box splits out the T1 into an ethernet plug for bandwidth and a secondary T1 which I plug into the T100P card. I've connected the two with a T1 crossover cable. I get a green light on the t100p card and can make

Exact purpose of network.ping-timeout
Hi, I have a question regarding the "ping-timeout" option. I have been researching its purpose for a few days and it is not completely clear to me. Especially that it is apparently strongly encouraged by the Gluster community not to change or at least decrease this value! Assuming that I set ping-timeout to 10 seconds (instead of the default 42) this would mean that if I have a network

Continuing after a TIMEOUT(absolute)
Greetings, I'm trying to continue to do some processing after a TIMEOUT (absolute). In my dialplan below, when a call comes in to [default], I call macro-phonenum and pass it a timeout of 20 seconds. macro- phonenum sets TIMEOUT(absolute), then loops saying the phone number that was called (in MACRO_EXTEN). When the timeout expires I want to call my macro-hangup (so it can say

Fall back from 2 different sources.
Hi all, we have an industrial strength server acting as a relay for several services using Icecast2. Some of the stations have installed two seperate broadband connections to guard against network outages, which do occur and can last several hours. Exploring the fallback option we find it is limited to different mounts on the same server. What we want to do is have two different Icecast2

Exact purpose of network.ping-timeout
Hi, It's just the delay for which a node can stop responding before being marked as down. Basically that's how long a node can go down before a heal becomes necessary to bring it back. If you set it to 10 seconds, and a node goes down, you'll see a 10 seconds freez in all I/O for the volume. That's why you don't want it too high (having a 2 minutes freez on I/O for example

Caching of classes non working or Howto?
Hello! I m new to rails. I m playing around with it on a SuSE 10.0 box with ruby 1.8.2 and gems and rails and postgres. rails xyz creates a nice rails application, with its directory and ruby script/server runs webrick nicely and lets me see the page on localhost:3000. I went with some tutorial to create a Hello page showing the time and a Bye-Link to link to an Bye page. cat

Rsync in daemon mode
Hi, I am a newbie to Rysnc and a had a quick question, the answer for which I wasn't able to find in the documentations. Currently I have Solaris system A which has files that are being generated and changed in real time. I am running rysnc in daemon mode on A.(server) On system B I use the appropriate rysnc command to connect to system A and sync all the files on B. I am having

behaviour of ssh/scp over flakey links - timeout/retry?
I'm using OpenSSH's ssh and scp to back up some remote machines, roughly as follows : ssh remote-host "tar up a few dirs" scp remote-host:tarfile local-repository On the whole, as I'd expect, this works just fine. But .. sometimes the link is a bit dodgey (for lack of a more explicit term, this being a polite list :) ) Can anyone tell me how ssh and scp timeout and retry,

Exact purpose of network.ping-timeout
The reason for the long (42 second) ping-timeout is because re-establishing fd's and locks can be a very expensive operation. With an average MTBF of 45000 hours for a server, even just a replica 2 would result in a 42 second MTTR every 2.6 years, or 6 nines of uptime. update rysnc 3.0 on ubuntu 7
I am runninng rsync on Ubuntu. It was installed using apt-get install rysnc. I note that the package has not yet been updated to rysnc 3.0. I would like to update using the tar but I am confused how to update the existing installation. On this machine, I am mainly using rsync to send to a cwrsync server (which I have updated already). Can I just overwrite the rsync executable? Any help

streaming to broadband and modem users and an intro file
Hello, I've got an icecast2 server set up. I'm streaming to it with winamp and the edcast plugin my thanks to everyone who helped me get that going. An aside is it possible to use a compressor plugin like audiostocker on an outbound stream going through edcast? I've googled that this is possible with winamp and shoutcast servers but not seeing how to run two dsp plugins to an icecast
