security=domain problem: "could not fetch trust account password for domain"
When configuring a SunOS 5.9 box running Samba 2.2.8a with security=domain, as per http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch04.html#samba2-CHP-4-SECT-7 I get the following error "could not fetch trust account password for domain" when trying to connect to a share via 'net use * \\server\share /user:domain\username' However, 'security=user' works correctly.

samba could not fetch trust account password for domain
I have installed Samba-tng as PDC. It works fine. Now I'd like to install Samba-head server on same machine as domain member and to auth users through PDC. I have joined Samba to domain with smbpasswd -j KIROV. It says Joined Ok. But users can't see any shares on samba-head server. smbd/password.c:domain_client_validate(1556) domain_client_validate: could not fetch trust account

Odd Samba 4 ("4.2.0pre1-GIT-b505111"; actually only using client) behaviour #1 - "Could not fetch trust account password for domain ...".
Good day oh technical ones . I was running Samba 4 (client only, not using it as a DC so effectively running Samba 3 code from the Samba 4 tree) and, other than a little "Gotcha!" regarding decoding Kerberos PACs, it was all working perfectly. Then recently I had to upgrade, to "4.2.0pre1-GIT-b505111" (I had to upgrade the OS on the server

could not fetch trust account password for domain
Hi all, I am a samba rookie with a problem. I have replaced an old server with a new server, and copied over the original samba config which was for samba file but the new server has samba 3.0.5 while the old version was 2.0.7. I had problems connecting to samba, so I tried using the supplied default config file and then migrated the original settings to the new file. problems still persisted.

Could not fetch trust account password for domain ...
I'm having some troubles with the winbindd. When trying to access a samba share, I receive the above error in the MACHINE_NAME.log file. I've ran the command smbpasswd -j MY_DOMAIN -r PDC -U Administrator, and it worked fine. wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain users", but I'm not sure if this is related to my 1st problem. I'm going to dump in my config files,

0 length domain name & SCHANNEL can't be used to fetch trust account password?
I have a few errors I'm trying to chase down in an effort to get a Win7 client in my domain. WinXP works -- tested unjoining and rejoining today, and it can still join. I have the registry adds for DNSNameResolutionRequired=0 under LanmanServer&Client/Params (put it in both places in attempt to get things working), as well as a DomainCompatibilityMode=1 I've tried moving to winbind

Samba 2.2.8 is failing on change machine account password
I've noticed that a few systems that I've upgraded to Samba 2.2.8 are not able to change the machine account password. I have security = domain and I am seeing entries like this in the log. [2003/03/27 14:22:23, 1, pid=10302] smbd/service.c:(636) le21pai-1 (47.142.162.19) connect to service export as user wcitiadm (uid=201361, gid=4785) (pid 10302) [2003/03/27 14:22:24, 0, pid=10302]

Samba 3.6.9 on Centos 6.4 and very slow first access to fileserver
Hello good people, I am fighting with following issue: our users are complaining about very slow/delayed displaying of main folders during accessing server using \\dns.name.of.server (using \\IP or \\netbios_name is it with same slowness). But once they are authenticated, displaying contents of (sub-)folders are getting normal. Once the user hit "enter" key on

Error "Failed to setup SPNEGO negTokenInit request" after Samba update to 2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2
Hi, I am running an Ubuntu 14.04 server with Samba configured to use Quest Authentication Services for user authentication with an Active Directory infrastructure. After an Samba upgrade from version 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.13 to 2:4.3.8+dfsg-0ubuntu0.14.04.2, I am facing the problem that none of the configured Samba shares is accessible anymore. The log contains the following entry:

Error "Could not fetch trust account password" in Samba 3 Beta..what do I need to do?
Specifics samba-3.0.0beta1-1.i386.rpm on RedHat 9 and smbpasswd authentication, the machine is the PDC and security is set for user. The machine account was setup on the fly and it appears in passwd, shadow, and smbpasswd files as it should. However it seemed to take a very long time to join the domain, about 1-1/2 minutes. I can browse the Samba PDC machine and access the shares, etc. After

Problem authenticating against a W2K server
Hi there. I'm having a problem letting a Samba server (MYSAMBA) authenticate users (using "security = domain" and a "password server = MYPDC") against a Windows 2000 PDC (MYPDC). The Windows 2000 machine seems (I'm not 100% sure about this) to be configured to restrict anonymous and it seems to me that this is where the problem lies but don't know what to do. I

Active Directory and Samba
Trying to place some working Samba servers in to an active directory environment, and things are not working. The server itself seems to work with other services. I am actually at the point that I can log in to my server using a valid Active directory log on, so I know Unix and Active Directory are talking. I can kinit, do "net ads join"s, it would seem the active directory

Nonfunctional linux/CIFS mounts after update (ADS / windows DC auth)
I have been running in loglevel 10 and looking at the logs, but as I said in my initial post the credentials function fine with nautilus. Appended is a connection log snippet where samba walks through a cascade of authentication methods and finally fails. Earlier in the log, samba successfully determines which domain controller to talk to and pulls its information. However, just before the
