Hi: I've just installed Samba 3.0.0 on FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE, and it appears to work correctly, but I get the following errors when running 'net' or 'smb*' commands. Hi all. I've been struggling for weeks now to get Samba 3 working on Solaris 9... At least, configure is happy now with my iconv, but still I get these: # testparm Error loading module '/usr/local/samba-3.0.0rc4/lib/charset/ISO8859-1.so': ld.so.1: testparm: fatal: /usr/local/samba-3.0.0rc4/lib/charset/ISO8859-1.so: open failed: No such file or directory In fact: # ls -l

3.0.22 on solaris9 does not start as daemon
I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D --configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon. Samba was built with ldap, (heimdal) kerberos and active directory support using gcc 3.3.2 from sunfreeware. Solaris 9 is a new install on a development machine with production patches.

3.0.0 install on AIX 4.3.3
Please help! I downloaded samba-3.0.0.0 for AIX from Bullfreeware.com. It downloaded and installed fine - I followed the instructions carefully. I revised the /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf files and created the test/default smb.conf file. I linked /usr/local/samba back to /usr/local as a tip suggested. But I can't get the smbd or nmbd daemons or swat to start up! /usr/local/sbin/smbd

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only programs I supplied where db and libiconv. I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security, and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg. When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11: (dbx) where

libiconv problems
Hello all, OK - Im kind of stumped on this one and google wasnt much help. Its probably something stupid and obvious, but I could use another pair of eyeballs. When compiling Samba 3.0.5 on Solaris 9 (using the Sun directory server 5.1 as the LDAP, but compiled against the OpenLDAP libraries in /usr/local/lib) I got the following error during the make: lib/iconv.c: In function `sys_iconv':

I'm getting only partial iso8859-1 translation from an smbfs mount from my Win98SE machine. No connection after upgrade to 3.2.0
Hello, I already worked with Samba (3.0.?) several month now on my NSLU2 with SlugOS BE. A few days ago the version was updated to 3.2.0 and no connection was possible afterwards. I searched the net but without relevant hits. I've created a new config file from scratch but got the same error again: root@LKG65AAA4:~$ netstat -an |egrep ':(137|138|139|445)' netstat: no support for

Samba 3.0.2a problems on Solaris 8
Tried to upgrade our Samba 2.2.8a domain controller (Solaris 8) to Samba 3.0.2a. Compiled using gcc 3.3.2, linked to libiconv-1.8, popt-1.7 and cups-1.1.20. I shut down the Samba 2.2.8a. Removed everything in var/locks. Did a "make install" to install 3.0.2a, then restarted Samba. My smb.conf is basically the same as 2.2.8a with "domain admin group" removed. When I stared

Missing "ISO8859-1.so" on Tru64Unix
Hello, I am testing Samba 3.0.0 on a Tru64Unix v 5.1b. I compile it with gcc et gnumake. I am able to start it and I can see a share. Character set conversion problems with 3.0
I've just compiled Samba 3.0.0 on a Solaris 8 system (gcc, if it matters), and whenever I run anything from the samba suite, I get a series of error message about character set conversions: Conversion from UCS-2LE to CP850 not supported Conversion from UTF8 to CP850 not supported ... and about 10 more, all involving CP850 (the "standard" DOS codepage, presumably). Now,

Yet another charset problem
Hi, I am well aware that the charset problem has been discussed many times over. But after two days of googling and testing, I did not make any progress. I am mounting Windows XP Pro shares with french filenames on a Linux. The linux is a 2.4.27 kernel with the following settings: CONFIG_SMB_FS=y CONFIG_SMB_NLS_DEFAULT=y CONFIG_SMB_NLS_REMOTE="UTF8" CONFIG_SMB_NLS=y CONFIG_NLS=y
