net getlocalsid problem
Hi I decided after some testing and experimenting, to move the
production servers from 2.2.x to 3.0. so I've installed samba3.0 in
paralel with the old binaries. To start the migration I wanted to save
the old domain SID, to can make the migration as transparent as
possible, so I did:
net3 -d 10 -I 127.0.0.1 getlocalsid
while the old binaries are still runing all that I've got

ADS Join problem samba3.0.14a kerberos 1.3.5
Hi List,
I'm getting an error join an ADS Domain, using samba 3.0.14a & kerberos
1.3.5.
When I look at the debug output from the join attempt, it almost seems
as though
The join is looking for an OU or something from the AD that doesn't
exist. I'm not an
Windows person and the AD admins are not around to help peep this out.
Can anyone take a look at the debug output below and

Hi,
I just tried to join my SLES9 (Suese Linux Enterprise Server 9) to my
ads. I follow a mixture of the howtos [1], [2], [3]. Everything works
fine (kinit gives me a valid kerberos ticket), but the
`net ads join -U $DOMAIN\\$USER` command segfaults.
Software I have intalled:
- - samba 3.0.23c (from ftp.samba.org)
- - heimdal 0.6.1rc2

Can't join AD anymore after migration to 3.0.30
After migrating from 3.0.26a to 3.0.30 I cannot join my AD member server
to the domain anymore:
I get a DCERPC_FAULT_INVALID_TAG.
As I didn't change my Windows 2000 SBS Server, this looks like a new
feature in Samba 3.0.30.
Do I have to also migrate my Heimdal - if so, which version is required?
Kind regards,
Jens
P.S: Is there a way to find out the code changes in Samba 3.0.30?

Unable to join ADS domain with 3.3.0rc1 on Suse 11.0 linux
I'm setting up anew server with 3.3.0rc1 and cannot join my AD domain.
It may not be a problem strictly linked to the samba versiom, for my
Active Directory administrators have tightened and enforced security
policies since last time I joined a linux server succefully.
BTW, this is what I get with net join command:
namenor:/usr/src/local/samba/samba-3.3.0rc1/source # net ads join -S

Hello,
Sorry for the long post but I've been working on this for over a day now
and I haven't made any progress. I hope someone can help me with this.
I have created a new ad domain on a win2k server. I am not user

installed on my machine.
I use:
net rpc join member -Uadmin%password -S adserver

Trouble joining AD 2008 Server
Hi all
I am having trouble joining a server to our new AD 2008 server with DOMAIN
security mode.
ADS Security mode works just fine ,but the server is going to be a Clearcase
Vobserver and ADS is not supported.
The AD server is also configured to only allow NTLMv2 and not older NTLM, the
last 4 lines i global show this.
Tried version 3.3.2 and 3.0.34. Same errors om both.

Sorry, I'll try this again. It appears the email got stripped out and

I'm having an issue where any machine refuses to join the domain. It's

something obvious, but this is an "inherited" network and based on the
state of the rest of it, the issue could be

302rc1 and AIX 5.2
I'm getting some wierd things going on. Mostly segfaults with testparm,
but others as well...
AIX 5.2, IBM C compiler version 6.0, libiconv 1.9.1 compiled in shared
mode.
I've resolved the LIBPATH thing so I can compile correctly now.
When I start nmbd, or smbd with the -D option they just chew up a ton of
cpu and log level 10 only shows the code pages being mapped and that's it.

net rpc vampire problems
I am trying to vampire the account database from my NT 4 DC (that has
SP6A installed). The DC's name is nemesis. The samba computer's name
is mjollnir.
The directions seem trivial:
1.) Join the Domain as a BDC with:
net rpc join -S nemesis -W WHSD -U Administrator
this worked fine and I can see the computer listed in server manager
with type "Windows NT Backup"
2.) Run

I am trying to connect to an ADS domain and it is failing all the time.
I am running SuSE Linux 9.0 with Samba 3.0.13 and have configured Samba with ldap and heimdal kerberos
Attached is my debug level 10 error log created when the join is attempted.
I would appreciate any advice on solving this problem.
Thanks in advance

nmbd fails to start - permission denied
Hello all,
I have a new RHEL5 host, with nothing installed that falls outside of
the Base package group (that I selected) plus the CUPS 1.2.4 and Samba
3.0.28 packages.
All I've done to date on this host is perform yum updates to installed
packages and set up configurations for Samba and CUPS.
Once all of that was in place, I started up Samba via the Red Hat
startup script, but
