Samba performance issue
Hi,
In the last a couple of weeks, Eric helped me fixed a couple of my new samba 3.0.5 running on HP-UX 11i hang issues. Right now, people still experience slowness when they run some applications on the samba shares OR recursive list directories on the samba shares.
There was not a lot of errors in the individual log files. However, there are some errors in log.smbd and log.0.0.0.0 file.

Samba panics after error connecting to cups
Hi,
We have an issue with Samba panicking after an error connecting to
CUPS (see log below).
Samba 3.0.7
CUPS 1.1.20
Debian Woody
After the panic, CUPS is still oparational, but not Samba. I have to
kill -9 the smbd process befor I can restart it using the init
scripts.
Any pointers welcome.

samba errors - "No buffer space available"
I am new to Samba, having just taken over management of a HPUX system in
a mainly Windows environment. The system is running Samba 3.0.7. I am
getting the following errors, repeatedly, in my log.smbd. What does it
mean? Is this actually a problem or normal chatter for Samba? If it is
a problem, what should I do to correct it?

samba3 upgrade misery
Greetings, all
We've been running samba2 for far too long - I'd just never found the time to
upgrade, and it wasn't a priority since it WORKED. Our little Solaris9/SPARC64
box happily served our few gigs of files to 20 users, and played the part of a PDC.
Then I upgraded CUPS, and discovered samba2 doesn't like cups-1.2 libs, and
figured it was as good an excuse to make the

Domain Authentication oddities
Hello List,
I am running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E on RHEL 4.0. I was able to join this server
to the domain using the 'net ads join' command and it created a machine
account in AD with the name of the server. My issue is that I can
authenticate using domain credentials when I access the server from a
Windows computer using //SMBSERVERNAME/SHARE, however when I access the
server using

I am using Samba 3.0.20 with Sun Directory Server as a PDC. I have been

except this one... I have four Windows 2003 Servers that are domain

Slowness problems with Samba 3.0.1, Solaris, and Clearcase
Hello --
I recently installed Samba 3.0.1 on our Solaris 8 servers (as well as
our RedHat servers) and I wanted to see if I could get some feedback on
a few things.
We are using Samba in conjunction with Clearcase for our software
developers and because of that, we have oplocks turned off (also level2
oplocks = no as well). We are authenticating to our ADS server, but

Errors in smbd log file
List,
Regarding a problem I'm having that I can't login to our domain, after
searching google I checked my smbd log file. I pasted the log file
below. Please know that I could see the samba server in my network
places just fine before. Now when I double click on the domain I get
the error message that the path was not found. I'm running w2k.
Thanks,

Problem Accessing Samba Server from Windows

I'm having a problem accessing my samba server from Windows. The problem
occurs every time I try to browse to it on either XP or 2003 Server. The
error message I get is: "\\Zeus is not accessible. You might not have

this server to find out if you have access permissions. The account is

Force user doesn't work
I am using Samba 3.6.6 on Debian Wheezy.
I want to be able to change www files on my dev server using my macbook.
So I setup samba and made a share for the /var/www directory.
I added the users bart & root to samba to connect. And connect using command K and then smb://192.168.2.100 (my samba server).
As apache uses www-data as a user and group for the www files I use force user and

chgrp: invalid group: `domain users'
Hello everyone
I have been struggling a lot with Samba and this mailing list is my last hope.
I have a windows server 2008 R2 and my aim? is to store the user's
roaming profiles to a samba share. I don't want users to be able to
login into the linux machines using their windows credentials just to
save their roaming profiles on a samba share.
To achieve this I followed numerous pages

USERMGR 'A device attached to the system is not functioning'
Hey everyone,
I've got a Samba server running with an LDAP backend, and for the most
part it works great. The only issue I'm having is that when I attempt
to use USERMGR.exe on the windows side I get this (typical Microsoft)
error:
"A device attached to the system is not functioning"
I'm running Samba 3.4.5, and OpenLDAP 2.4.21 on FreeBSD 8.0

"A device attached to the system is not functioning"
Hello,
Samba 3.0.2a, Debian linux, 2.6.x kernel, PDC server, WinXP clients.
When I try to log in on a XP client I get this message:
"A device attached to the system is not functioning"
I have tried google'ing for the error, but to no avail.
I have earlier created a user (anna), which can successfully log in from
my laptop. When I try to log in with anna on my workstation, I

The only time I've seen that Windows error is during machine joins.
It is due to nssldap
