No module named snack
Hi everyone--I'm back on the list after some time not managing any Centos
machines. It's good to be back.
I'm trying to switch a server from sendmail to postfix. It's Centos 4.6. I
installed postfix and system-switch-mail. When I run system-switch-mail, I
get

Roller Coaster Tycoon, Suse 10.1, installer silently dies
I have a fresh install of Suse 10.1 and wine 9.21 and tried to install
roller coaster tycoon for some fun. However the installer quickly dies
silently. I've tried using different versions of wine with no succes.
The frustrating thing is that on different versions of Suse this
installed beautifully.
I've tried using winetools to set up my ~.wine, but still $wine
setup.exe gives me

oplocks and samba 2.2.7
About two months ago our sysadmin upgraded to samba 2.2.7 and we have not
had any oplock problems since.
A heartfelt thanks from the University of Wisconsin in Madison to the Samba
team for all their hard work.
If our hundreds of users understood what was going on behind the scenes,
they'd be thanking you too.

Wow! Double wow!
I'm running CentOS 6 (6.5 iirc) on my wife's machine, which I've
been updating pretty much every day. Today yum got 425 packages!
Somewhere a dam must have broken. Sometimes some of us don't
appreciate how much work the developers do.
Strength to their arms, and many heartfelt thanks!

Keep the politics out, please?
With this post, I run the risk of causing more of the thing that I speak
against. I still think it's important to say it.
CentOS mailing list is a technical forum. It is not a political forum.
Just reading a thread on bitcoins and the entire thread quickly turned into a
political thread with people bitching about everything from Chase Bank to the
Russians, and that's just crap.

Launcher issue
First of all, I would like to to say thanks to those who are constantly working on Wine. I first started using Wine 1.3.17 with Ubuntu 10.10, than I switched to Mint 10 desktop edition using Wine 1.3.19. I reinstalled Roller Coaster Tycoon only to find out the launcher under the menu no longer works. I get a "file missing error". I am still able to run the program via the executable

making a route sticky
Is it possible to have a route stick in the kernel, even if device it points to
goes to roller coaster up and down drive.
For example. I have an ADSL modem and am doing VPN over it. There's a route
needed for VPN added like this:
ip route add 192.168.1.0/24 via 1.2.3.4 src 192.168.2.1
There are two problems with it:
a) if ADSL link is down when above command is executed, the route

Toll-free DID switchover: Get status?
Hello!
I am in the middle of having a vanity toll-free DID set up. It's been 13
days now (9 business days). This is the first time I'm doing this, and
I'm not sure of the process. There has been a very weird progression of
changes on my number, from fast-busy, to a message saying that I'm calling
from a phone with restrictions (no matter *what* line I call from), to a

Wine has improved a lot!
I hope I'm not wasting bandwidth with this, but I just had to compliment
the developers of Wine for the work that's been done. Wine has gotten
to the point now where just about anything I've thrown at it works
either out of the box, or with minimal tweaking.
I remember when it used to be really difficult or nearly impossible to
get many applications to run with Wine, but now the

Keep the politics out, please?
I understand your point.
I was just offering a bitcoin spec file for those who wanted it, no
politics in that post, and was met with resistance I suppose I shouldn't
have responded to. No rants about the fiat banking system in my original
post.
Bitcoin building on CentOS without needing an alternate TLS library
installed is new, so really that is all I wanted to do was provide a

Thanks for an excellent rsync!
I had occasion this morning to apply rsync to another task. As usual,
the docs were informative, the functionality I needed was easily
supported, and rsync worked like a charm.
Of course, all this is the result of a lot of hard work by the rsync
developers, especially Wayne. I decided it would be good to publicly
acknowledge this, lest we all take it for granted.
To summarize, from rsync we
