ext3+acl
A patch that implements acls on ext3 for kernel 2.2.x is available at http://moldybread.net/patch/kernel-2.2/ It looks to be stable. Beat it, break it.

ACL support for ext3 on 2.4.x
There is now a working patch for ACLs and Extended Attributes on kernel 2.4.x ext3 available at http://www.moldybread.net/patch/kernel-2.4 The patch applies over 2.4.9-ac3. The ac patch was used since it includes both ext3 and the new quota code. This patch has not yet been throughly tested. Known problems: 1. Extended attribute sharing does not work on ext3. Consistently causes crashes.

Extended Attributes and Access Control Lists
Hello, I have today released an initial version of extended attributes and access control lists for ext3 (patch against the 2.4.13-ac3 kernel). Eric Jarman <ejarman@acm.org> has contributed a lot to this effort. Since I'm not very much into the innards of ext3, can some of you please take a look at the patch, and see whether it contains any flaws (and tell me which flaws)? Thanks! The

nfs, 64 / 32 bit, locking problem
Well, next problem. Because of samba isn't running on alphaserver 1200 with gentoo linux and kernel 2.6.9-ac12 i've simply exported my smbroot (on alpha, it is my fileserver) and have samba running on an intel pentium4 box, also gentoo, kernel 2.6.0-ac12. Seems to work, eccept some locking problems. smbd[9450]: [2005/02/08 17:29:51, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(657) smbd[9450]:

pxelinux 4.03 taking forever to find ..../pxelinux.cfg/default

Is GCC 2.95.2 also unusable?
Does anyone know if GCC 2.95.2 compiles a broken oggenc? My .ogg files sound like they're being played by a CD player stuck on fast- forward. . . . And I wonder what the solution is. ext3 0.9.6 vs ext3 0.9.9
Hello, I have done extensive testing between 2.4.9 and 2.4.9-ac12 with ext3 0.9.6 and 0.9.9. I also tried using both kgcc and gcc-2.96. I have a problem with logging into xdm or starting the gnome-session totally locking up the machine while using ext3 0.9.9. It seems to go away using ext3-0.9.6. During xdm/gnome-session the hard disk is under heavy activity. I have attached my kernel config.

ext3 for 2.2 and LFS
In the Red Hat Linux spec file for the 2.2.19 kernel, there is a note not to enable ext3 and LFS at the same time. I'm wondering whether this is an old note, and that it is safe to use ext3 0.0.7a on a system with LFS enabled, or if there are still issues with it. I'm aware that 0.0.7a is a really old version, and 2.2 isn't the most modern kernel, but it is what I have to work with.

ext3 and acls?
I tried running ext3 with posix acls (see http://acl.bestbits.at). The patches were easily merged and everything compiled fine. I created a journal.dat on my /home fs and mounted it as ext3. So far everything worked perfectly. But getfacl/setfacl didn't work on ext3. Mounting /home as ext2 solved the problem. Maybe ext3 and ext2 don't share enough code to get it working without rewriting

ext3 and 2.4.10-ac12
Does anyone know if the 2.4.10-ac11 ext3 patch applies cleanly to 2.4.10-ac12? If so, do you think it's safe to use? Thanks!

2.2.19+ext3 or 2.4.1x+ext3 ?
I've not been happy with the stories about the "stable" 2.4.x kernels. Everywhere I read people saying "not for production use". Would you recommend adding ext3 to 2.2.19 (ext3-0.0.7a) or moving to 2.4.1x and using ext3 there (ext3-0.9.12)? -- -IAN! Ian! D. tinc generating invalid packet checksums?
We have a Zenoss server in our main office monitoring (among many other things) an Apache server in a remote network, with a Tinc link between the two networks. The monitoring simply involves making an HTTP request to a URL once every 5 minutes and confirming that a response page comes back. Most of the requests to this particular web server succeed (and similar requests to other web servers

3D trajectory plot?
Hello, I'm attempting to create a smooth, 3D plot of a trajectory (rather than the cloud or wireframe functions). I would rather the individual data points not be visible. I've had no luck finding this on the graphics or help pages. Thank you in advance. Chris Some example data, just in case: 25 32 40 12 25 32 2 12 25 2 2 12 20 2 2 1 20 2 6 1 20 5 6 1 5 5 6

ext3-fs error (ext3_free_blocks)
hi! I'm using ext3 for a few weeks by now, and i'm quite satisfied, especially in combination with the new quota code in the ac kernels... i never had any fs-errors till now... i upgraded to 2.4.9-ac12 (w/o any additional patches, runs ext3fs 2.4-0.9.6) yesterday, and today i got this errormessage... EXT3-fs error (device ide1(22,66)): ext3_free_blocks: Freeing blocks not in datazone -

Three way calling problems: 2 ea. X100P 1 ea TDM10p
I'm having a problem getting 3 way calling to work correctly using two outside lines and one extension. The two outside lines are connected to the X100P's and a standard model 2500 phone is connected to the TDM10. When I dial the first outside destination 9xxxxxxx, the call completes correctly. When I flash the hook switch and dial the second location 9yyyyyyy. The call doesn't

2.6.0-test4+EA, security label
I am doing some SELinux testing under 2.6.0-test4 on PPC with an ext3 partition. It uses the extended attributes and security labels. After using the SELinux setfiles utility, which sets all of the security labels in the filesystem, I get some strange behavior from e2fsck. When I fsck it, it gets a pair of problems with all of the symlinks on the system, like these: Symlink /usr/bin/ptx (inode

Can't login to EA Origin
I'm using wine 1.4-rc4 with a 64 bit wine prefix that's pretty much fresh, and I'm constantly having problems trying to actually login. I'll be able to log in for awhile, and then I'll go through hours of getting either a non-specific error message or something about a problem contacting the origin network. I'm hoping that someone else using origin can either confirm that
