winver & managed question
Hello All, I have just been reading the docs on Wine and came across the --managed Allow the window manager to manage created windows --winver Version to imitate (win95,nt40,win31,nt2k,win98,nt351,win30,win20) Does the "--managed" allow my xserver to take care of the windows? Also, if I set "--winver nt2k" then does this mean that Wine will look for the

error message not understood
Greetings! I just successfully installed wine under red hat linux 7.1, the latest kernel. I am running windows 2000 Professional on my Dos partition. I have been able to run some of the software I need to stay in linux instead of having to switch to win2k, but I'm having problems with Membership Plus 6.0c. Here's the command I give to try and run it: [johnfg@church johnfg]$ wine

Re: samba + winbindd with NT-DC problem... i'm stuck.
I think your problem is this: > passwd: files winbind > group: files winbind > shadow: files winbind nis the correct modification for nsswitch is passwd: files winbind group: files winbind shadow: files nis DON'T put winbind in shadow line! then try with "getenet passwd" or "getent group" and you should see all users in /etc/passwd and after them domain

modify permissions fail on new file server.
Hello, I'm using winbindd with samba 3.0.1. Everything starts up as expected and tests return the expected results (wbinfo and getent). Files created via windows clients are create with the proper ownership and group membership. When I attempt to modify the permissions via the windows security tab (add another group, change ownership for example) I'll get a win pop up saying

Win2K v WINE
Hi All, I found an old article on running WINE alongside Windows 2000 yesterday. It advocated using the command line of "wine --winver nt2k [program name]", in the example "wine --winver nt2k mspaint.exe". I tried this out with Paintshop Pro which WINE HQ says does run with WINE, but had even less success than before. At least without using that extra part I got an error

wbinfo
Dear all, Got a problem that turns me around. I'm quite new to samba. Yesterday when i tried the wbinfo -u/-g and other options worked without any worry. Also there was no error in the UNIX passwd program where i even changed the root password. This morning onwards i'm facing with problems where the wbinfo says there is an error looking up the domain for users and groups -h -i works

intermittent segfault upon invocation
Wine release 20010510 on Linux 2.4.4 SMP compiled from source code. One in ten times, when I start wine (with an executable or without) the program will segfault. Notes: 1. This doesn't happen when I run wine under the debugger. 2. I turned on --debugmsg +all to see if I could pinpoint the reason. When it deosn't segfault, I get loads of debug messages. When it DOES fault, I get

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED: Access denied (0xc0000022)
I have a Samba4 AD/DC running on Slackware64 14.1, Samba version 4.2.12. This computer has been serving a Domain of several Windows 7 and one Linux domain members for about 2 years without problem. On a few occasions lately I've run the following command on the AD/DC: $ ntlm_auth --username="user" --password='password' NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED: Access denied (0xc0000022)

wbinfo -u is returning 0xc0000022
Hi all, I have a samba 2.2.8a install runing on a debian woody. The samba is working fine and I am able to map shared drives. I want to use a Primary Domain Controller to authenticate users. I have included the necessary options in smb.conf, # separate domain and username with '+', like DOMAIN+username winbind separator = + # use uids from 10000 to 20000 for domain users winbind uid

WINBIND with usernames with &
Samba doesn't allow connections from usernames that have & in them. For example, using 2.2.5 and winbind with security = DOMAIN password server = win2kmixed workgroup = MIXEDDOMAIN all my users can login, (for example MIXEDDOMAIN+aho, MIXEDDOMAIN+tdickson), but my users named "&" and "bobalso&" (which should be MIXEDDOMAIN+& and MIXEDDOMAIN+bobalso&)

symbol problems with FRESH install
Hello, I installed wine 20010112 from source and can't get it to work. I had an old version on before, but I COMPLETELY removed it before I started. I'm sure -- I checked for libkernel32.so and others, and even took away the .wine directory. Anyway, so now I am getting this undefined symbol message: ---------------------------------------- [root@localhost cdrom]# wine HWSetup.EXE

What happened to --desktop geom?
Hey, I'd like to apologize in advance if this is an old issue that everyone already dealt with in some new mechanism... But I compiled today's CVS for the first time in a few months, and when i tried to fire up programs/games with --desktop geom 640x480 (or any other dimensions) I get an "unknown option --desktop" error and the "usage" list pops up. I read the man

Trouble with WINE
Hello folks, I have the most recent version of WINE (20010305), and have been trying to run it with no luck until now. I have tried some very simple programs like notepad and solitaire, and both don't seem to work: all I get is a sh*itload (a REAL sh*itload) of font-related fixme's. Meanwhile, the system's load average increases, reaching a point where even the X server goes down

wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello, I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a) and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns 0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few articles, but applying the

how do I export nt2k policy to a file?
We migrated our entire domain over to a samba3 domain, now I would like to apply a few policies to the network. I've been reading a few migration papers, most mention about a .POL file which is created upon exporting policy keys on a wintel machine. Using gpedit I don't see an export option. What tool should I use for this? greg
