smbpasswd fails to add machine account with ldapsam
Hi!
I am seeing other users with the same problem as I have. My samba also fails
to add machine accounts. It seems to me if it didn't even try. If I use some
other script (pdbedit, smbldap-tools) than smbpasswd it manages to add the
account but still fails to authenticate within the same session. If I try
again the machine account exists and authentication goes ok.

Trying to configure a SAMBA 3 PDC with OpenLDAP
Hello,
I have some problems trying to configure a PDC with OpenLDAP backend using Samba 3.0.1.
My LDAP server is working fine and has the samba templates.
I am able to configure users. The procedure I am using is I first create the user in the LDAP server using posixAccount, shadowAccount, etc. Then, as root, I write
smbpasswd -a user
and it works fine.
I get the same effect if I use

sssd - ldap host attribute ignored
Dear all,
i have a problem with sssd in conjunction with ldap on a centos 7 x86_64
box.
ldap works fine. I can login there as an usual user registred in ldap.
I want now restrict the access with ldap's host attribute. This is
beeing ignored. Still every ldap user can login, no matter what the host
attribute says.
I googled around and only found that sssd.conf need two lines:

Can't add machine account with 3.0.0; ldapsam backend (RESENT)
Resending as I'm no closer to a solution and really would appreciate any
help that anyone has to offer.
Hi,
Please cc me on any replies as I'm not subscribed.

samba4 openldap
I see that samba4 will have it's own LDAP database. How will the support
for OpenLDAP be? if anyone knows. Will I have the option to use OpenLDAP
still for all the new features so as to be able to use current apps that
use OpenLDAP already? If anyone has info regarding this, it would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Groups and LDAP
I'm a little weak on how the groups assignments work with Samba and
LDAP. The Samba HOWTO collection says to map each Domain Group to a
UNIX system group, but if all authentication is done via LDAP (Unix and
Windows) then do the groups still have to exist on the Samba Unix
machine? Where do the RIDs fit into all this? I don't see a schema in
LDAP for sambaGroup. Do I create the

Problem adding smb accounts on 3.0.1/ldap
I am setting up a Samba 3 server with ldap support- packages from Debian
backports.org- but have run into a problem setting up the samba
attributes. If there is a user existing in the local /etc/passwd file then
smbpasswd -a correctly sets up the samba user in the ldap directory.
However, if I preload the posixAccount and other data for a user using an
ldif import then attempt to use smbpasswd to

Hi all,
Just a couple of suggestions for documentation updates. First of all,
perhaps you should include the following about Windows XP and slow
logons/long delays in opening files:
