Hi folks I'm new to this list, fresh into linux and samba. Simply love it :-) I have a customer that have about 10 XP pro machines connected to a linux samba server. Since there are a quite few documents that only two of the users are going to see, I use groups and different shares. This setup have been working for a while. Samba-3.0.x: Strange problems with roaming profiles
Hello I've got some strange problems with Samba-3.0.4. When using roaming profiles, keyboard layout is set to english (instead of norwegian) and a lot of programs wont load correctly. Setting log level = 3 revealed a lot of errors after the netlogon-script had executed (and all shares correctly set up). I switched to log level = 10 to get a more detailed view of these errors (show below).

Extracting error terms from an lme object
Hi all, I have a problem with extracting the right error terms from an lme-object. The fixed part of the model is quite simple (y~x1*x2, where x1 and x2 are factor variables with two levels), with random intercepts (random=~1|group). As I work with factor variables here, I would like to display this with a barplot (or something like that), with error bars representing the sem or sd of the mean

Forcing ticks in plot for hclust object outside the limits
Hello! I have the following problem. I would like to plot the hclust object "hcd" (bellow, at the end of the mail) with ticks at seq(0.05,0.25,by=0.05). I tried using the code plot(hcd) and plot(hcd, axes=FALSE) axis(2,seq(0.05,0.25,by=0.05)) In both cases, the resoult is the same, ticks at 0.05 and 0.25 are not printed. I tried changing the ylim argumet in plot, however I got a

extlinux VPATH build issue
Hi: I've been seeing intermittent build failures with the extlinux target, and I believe I've tracked it down to a VPATH issue. See this make -d log: Finished prerequisites of target file `extlinux'. Prerequisite `extlinux.o' is newer than target `extlinux'. Prerequisite `setadv.o' is newer than target `extlinux'. Prerequisite

Differentiating Video from Audio
I am trying to write a "thumbnailer" for the thunar file manager that can process .ogg files containing a video stream and produce a thumbnail of a particular frame. The only trouble is telling which files have a video stream in an efficient method. The best I've come up with is running ogginfo on every file with the mimetype application/ogg. Is there a better method? I know

ClockingIT Beta - It''s about time...
My wife and I have been working on our own task-listing, time-tracking web application, and we''re really interested in some feedback as we ourselves feel we''ve come a long way. If you have some minutes to kill (or just want to see how the Comet functionality provided by the Juggernaut plugin can work) have a look at http://www.clockingit.com and

New FLAC Frontend
Hi all, Just as I said I would do in a previous mail to this mailing list (http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac-dev/2013-January/003644.html), I've set up a sourceforge project with a remake of FLAC Frontend. After a few months of development (with loads of help from people at HydrogenAudio) I think it is fairly stable. As soon as FLAC 1.3.0 is released, I will release the first stable

I upgraded my wine version from 0.9.5 to the newest 0.9.12 and I can't get wine to run. when I start wine my system hangs, an wine binary "wine-preloader" eats up all my reasources and just hangs! I used the official 9.1 binary rpm from sourcefordge.net and a build from the wine source but the resoult is the same wine-preloader just hangs. The strangest thing is that when I start

ClockingIT v0.99.2 released
It''s been a while since I last announced something about ClockingIT to this list, due to limited bandwidth. But, now that I''ve gotten proper hosting with a great connection, there''s no reason not to. ClockingIT - http://www.clockingit.com is a free and open-source (MIT/X11) project management application, with a focus on large amounts of tasks and tracking of time

ClockingIT closing in on v1.0
Hepp! ------ It''s been a while since the last ClockingIT - http://www.clockingit.com - release, but the new version has finally been deployed, with quite a few improvements. ClockingIT is now much better at handling a large number of tasks and issues, and it''s a lot easier to see what you should work on next. I''ve also implemented a new look, designed by the missis,

Problems syncing Samba and Linux passwords
Hi all, I'm trying to sync unix/samba passwords, but I experience problems when running smbpasswd as a normal user (not as root). The error message is "machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86: The specified password is invalid." Of course, trying to change passwords from Windows clients does not work. After some googling I've found out that I'm not

Marvell, IOMMU/VT-d, and pci-phantom
Hi, guys. I''ve been trying to use the pci-phantom command line options to xen so as to work around the hardware issue with the Marvell 88SE91xx SATA controllers in IOMMU ([Intel:] VT-d) mode, but I cannot seem to get my head around it. From having had a glance here: http://xenbits.xen.org/docs/unstable/misc/xen-command-line.html and in particular the syntax described as such:

ogg123 + replaygain?
Hey When playing an http ogg stream served by icecast, ogg123 (vorbis-tools-1.0.1) seems to detect replaygain metadata because it displays it in a nice way, but does ogg123 actually alter the playback volume according to the replaygain variables? I can notice no effect. I did some googling on this but didn't find much help. I discovered a vgplay patch for vorbis-tools 1.0.1 but after

Windows 2000 and XP Password
Hello All I have been using Samba for a few years now with Windows 95 and 98 clients and have never had a problem at all. Recently I had to administer a new network with Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional clients. I am finding that both of these clients will not cache the network password for very long. I find that if I reboot the clients through the day they remake the
