New Printers with Samba 3.14 driver upload
Hello Everybody,
we got new networkprinters and set them up.
They work fine, but driverupload doesn't seem to work.
We deleted the drivers used by the printers we had before.
My question is should I also delete the .tdb files associated with printing?
I remember driverupload once worked well with the printers we had before.
Any advice would be nice.

Failed to delete entry for share
Hi All,
I'm having some minor trouble with an obscure samba feature. I'm using
the remote administration "Server Manager" features of smb.conf.
Specifically the "add share command" "change share command" and "delete
share command". I've written a small C program to do the text-processing
portion of smb.conf file needed for each operation. The C

I'm very new to linux, I'm using Linux 8.0, seemed very easy to configure at
first, but I'm having trouble configuring how to connect to my computer
using linux from my computer using windows98. I see the Mygroup Icon in
NetworkNeighborhood and also my user name, but when I click on it, it says
to provide a password. I use my user password from linux but no avail.

Login Scripts Win95/WinNT
We want to use simple DOS login scripts with Samba.
Our Samba server is a Sun sparc station running under Solaris 2.6,
our clients are both Win 95 and Win NT 4.0 workstations.
We set up our Samba server with user level security and configured
everything according to the Samba documentation. The Samba server is acting
as WINS server and domain masterbrowser, there is no Win NT server in our

migrate old samba2.2.8 - smbpasswd to new samba3.0 - ldap - based
I'm just migrating a medium sambainstallation from old samba2.2.8 to new samba
3.0. The server is acting as PDC and there is no BDC.
The new samba is based on LDAP and is already successfully tested. Now I need to
transfer the whole old smbpasswd to the new ldap-style to convert users and
machines with minimal effort. Especially I dont want to break the relations

Problems joining a Samba domain
Hi,
I am trying to set up a SAMBA-PDC for our school's network and
find a strange Problem with two Win2k workstations.
When I try to join the SAMBA domain I receive an error which says
the user account - I am using root - is unknown.
I call this "strange" because other Win2k machines on the very
same subnet work correctly - and what is even stranger:
I can manually access all

problems with java under debian (including the R help page search engine)
Dear List:
this is a problem that affects my use of R under Debian, but is a problem with
using the Java virtual machine. I am turning to this list, since I am hoping
someone might have more experience with trying to figure out why Java does not
work under Debian than I do. I apologize in advance for trying to exploit list
knowledge for a problem that is only tangential to the list.
