Keeping Icecast and Liveice running...
I'd love to take a look at this script, and, more than likely, I'm not the only one :) Please post an example. > Liveice definitely needs a keepalive script of some kind. icecast and liveice
Hi ppl! :) I'm streaming a LIVE radio station with icecast 1.3.11 and liveice. It works, but I've a problem: >[04/Jan/2002:18:48:51] [9:Source Thread] Didn't receive data from source after 500000 microseconds, assuming it died... >[04/Jan/2002:18:48:51] [9:Source Thread] Lost connection to source on mount /radio, waiting 30 seconds for timeout What can I do? Keeping Icecast and Liveice running...
I'm just wondering how people are keeping Icecast and Liveice running. If it crashes at some point do you just restart everything by hand or do you have something to keep an eye on the processes (e.g svscan/daemontools program)??? I will be running a stream for a radio station and if the stream crashes I would like it to know that it has crashed and either reboot the system or restart the

Problem with dual streaming
I've been using liveice to feed an encoded stream to an icecast broadcast server. Now I want to feed two streams at the same time to the broadcast server. To acomplish that I am using a dual soundcard setup in a debian linux server. I've setup two different mountpoints in the icecast server wich will receive the stream and in turn will broadcast the streams to the listeners. This is, the

FreeBSD in general
Hello everyone, I am very tempted to try and use icecast as the weapon of choice to realize a live audio stream for the radio station I work for. Now, the last time I tried the FreeBSD port of Icecast, it immediately consumed something like 95% CPU time, even without any client connected. I think someone else reported that problem, but I somehow lost track of the issue - has this been

a few ices/icecast questions
hiya. i'm using ices 0.2.2 with icecast 1.3.10 and otto 1.0 (a web/db playlist mgmt tool). overall, i'm very pleased with the setup, but i'm having a few problems. 1) whenever otto plays a track (by exec'ing ices), that same track keeps playing over and over. i have to direct otto to kill the track (and the ices process) in order to get it to play the next track. i notice this

question on downsampling
Hi, Maybe a bit off topic for this list, bt anyway. I have received several feature requests for DarkIce to support downsampling of the audio input before passing it to lame or ogg vorbis. For example the audio read from the soundcard would be 44.1kHz, and lame would get it at 22.05kHz. I figure two ways of doing this: 1. For lame, one can specify the input and the desired mp3 sampling rate,

web-based playlist manager
Before I went out to potentialy reinvent this particular wheel, I figured I'd check to see whether anyone had or could recommend a web-based playlist manager for ices/icecast. The one I've got in mind would take requests, play random tracks in the absence of requests, keep a very limited history and look-ahead... This must have been done before, right? If not, I'll take a stab at

NAS and 2 active Samba servers / locking not working
Hi, I have one NAS which I can access via NFS or Samba. This storage is accessed by 2 linux servers with Samba where I re-export the NAS share. This is sort of an active/active loadbalancing cluster. The only thing not working is locking... If a client opens a Word-File via server1 and another opens the same via server2 it won't inform the user that he can only open the file readonly. I was

Hi Jerry/Samba Team I have Samba 3.0.10 installed on Solaris8 server and Samba-client-2.2.10 installed on Linux Red Hat2.1AS servers The Linux servers use Samba to mount filesystems from Solaris8 server. My question is how to find out on the Solaris8 server which Linux servers are using Samba to mount from. Because it is hideous to go to every Linux server and see which Solaris8 server they are

ACL Problems with Samba and ADS Integration
I am running a Samba Box as a Domain Member in a Windows ADS Domain (Windows Server 2003). The Box has joined the ADS domain and the kerberos authentication works, I can see "smbd" processes running with AD user accounts. But I can not set ACLs on the directories or the files located on the share. If I change them using Windows Explorer, they either will be ignored by samba, or I get the

NFS, nested ZFS filesystems and ownership
Hello, I''m sure there is a simple solution, but I am unable to figure this one out. Assuming I have tank/fs, tank/fs/fs1, tank/fs/fs2, and I set sharenfs=on for tank/fs (child filesystems are inheriting it as well), and I chown user:group /tank/fs, /tank/fs/fs1 and /tank/fs/fs2, I see: ls -la /tank/fs user:group . user:group fs1 user:group fs2 user:group some_other_file If I mount
