Hello,
I try to use Samba as a PDC. I have a old Windows 4.0 PDC and I want to get
the users and the groups from the PDC.
I joined the domain and get the users and groups with "net rpc vampire". The
users and the groups were written in
local user- and group-database, but the relation between the users and
groups were lost, in the groups were no users.

Problems setting up a Samba BDC
Hello,
I am trying to setup a SLES9 system as a Samba BDC. The PDC is NT4.
I am using an LDAP backend and have installed the smbldap tools. I am following
the directions found in the HOWTO and am running into trouble, maybe someone
can shed some light on things for me and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I will print the commands I'm using to try and create the samba BDC and we'll go

NT4 migration errors
Hi
I've setup samba 3.0.14 with the latest idealx scripts on FC3.
Now I have a test lab to migrate from NT4 box which different than the
standalone PDC I have running.
Here's the order I used and my ldap and samba configs are clean
as far as I can tell since I do get a partial migration.
When using 'net rpc vampire -S nt4 -W DOMAIN' it populates the
groups from NT4 and shows the

Migrating from NT4 questions
Hi,
I'm preparing to do a migration, but I'm having some doubts.
I installed 3.0.14a (from/for Suse) and I successfully joined the domain.
When I did a "net rpc vampire -S ..." there were some things that worry me :

SOLVED: Must a Samba PDC use LDAP for nss?
Hi All,
It seems like Samba 3 does require the PDC to use LDAP for nss when using
ldapsam.
I reconfigured Solaris 9 to use nss_ldap and 'getent group' now shows the
posixGroups created by the 'net rpc vampire' operation. I then cleaned up
the LDAP database and ran vampire again. Each group is created
successfully with incrementing gidNumber 10000 onward. 'net groupmap

sort-of fix for net rpc vampire account creation
This patch allows net rpc vampire to create accounts in the same way
that smbpasswd does, i.e. it will attempt to use the appropriate
account creation function for the backend in use. From reading the
comments on the top of the local_password_change function, either I
shouldn't be going this route or local_password_change is due for some
sort of change in status. The only major caveat I've

I am unable to 'net rpc vampire' the NT4 user accounts and groups into an

Solaris 9. I believe the sambaSamAccount schema has been imported successfully

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi,
I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to
use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible?
Details
-------
I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller
without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP
clients could join and login OK.
Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,
