Forcing Samba & Winbind to use port 139
Hello. I have a situation where I need to communicate with an NT server that is behind a firewall, the admins of which will not allow port 445 traffic to pass through. With the setup I have, smbmount and smbclient literally take minutes to issue back a response from said server unless I issue '-p 139', in which case I get a response almost instantly. My larger issue is getting winbind

Hi! I've recently been upgrading a Samba 2.2 installation to 3.0 (on a SuSE 9.3 machine, specific version is 3.0.13-1.1-SuSE). Everything went more or less okay, but I'm stumped on the following problem... here's the general setup: * Samba acting as a PDC (named "servidor"). Was upgraded from 2.2 to 3.0. I copied the smb.conf file, and the

PDC for Multiple Domains from a Single Samba Box
I've struggled with this for a couple of weeks, and have looked at countless posts and at the Samba documentation collection with no real solution. I'm setting up a lab that needs to have multiple domains (for machine / user segregation politics) for around 40 windows XP professional machines. I have a single Linux server running Suse 9.2. I would like for this server to be able to

Re: Samba 3.0 PDC, exchange 5.5 installing service pack 4 fails.
Hi Jerry - I'm just e-mailing you regarding the Exchange SP4 upgrade error when using a Samba 3.0 PDC. We presently have a Samba 3.0 PDC and using Exchange 5.5 SP4 without a problem, however we are in the process of migrating to Win2K3 and Exchange 2K3 and are setting up a test network to simulate the migration. While installing SP4 on exchange I keep getting a Dr. Watson error exactly the

Error joining ldap PDC (samba 3.0 alpha20)
I am fairly new to ldap and finally have it up and running. When I attempt to have a (win2k) machine join the domain, I get an error message: Logon failure, unknown user name or bad password After looking at the log for the win2k machine, all I can see is a problem with opening a pipe to netlogon just before I get the error message on the workstation. my smb.conf looks like this: [global]
