Samba Active Directory NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED - expired?
Hello list, I'm using several samba server (mix between v2.2 and v3.0 versions) within an Active Directory domain. These servers are normal domain members and winbind is used to lookup the domain users on the linux machines. Sometimes it looks like that some of the servers get kicked out of the domain. In the samba logs suddenly NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED messages appear and samba stopps

Screening packets within tc-classes
Hello list, I''m currently a bit planless so perhaps someone here could give me a point in the right direction. History: I wrote a shaper web tool (http://shaper.netshadow.at) and now got several feature requests if it would be possible to graph "what''s going on" (this mean per IP address, tcp/udp ports or protocols) in a specific chain. A chain represents a specific

simple routing query
Hi, I have 2 interfaces - one for adsl and other for LAN on my Linux gateway machine. The IP addresses are 10.10.10.3 & 192.168.10.101 respectively. Now my routing tables show this particular entry. What exactly is this? 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link Or by traditional route -n, 169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 What exactly is this 169.254.0.0/16

IPSec tunnel and routing
Hello. I wonder how just correct couple of spdadd commands like spdadd 192.168.1.0/24 192.168.2.0/24 any -P out ipsec esp/tunnel/10.1.0.1-10.2.0.1/require; spdadd 192.168.2.0/24 192.168.1.0/24 any -P in ipsec esp/tunnel/10.2.0.1-10.1.0.1/require; makes _routing_ of packets from 192.168.1/24 into 192.168.2/24. If I understand correctly how it works on *BSD, these commands with make already

services do not get restarted
Hello List, We are using puppet to manage a growing number of Debian Etch based servers (currently 70). Since upgrading to 0.22.4 we encountered a problem when services do not restarted on puppets request. For example the Nagios remote plugin executor daemon (nrpe). It''s running daemonized and its confiugration is located in /etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg. This file is managed through puppet

Abacus DOS problem Lock Selector
A lawyer in California is trying to change to linux. In CA, there are a number of programs required by the courts, and so far none are ported to linux at any price. His reason for wishing to change has to do with the fact that Microsoft now controls his access to his own files, and he finds this unacceptable. I tried one of his apps, an old DOS version of Abacus. Using the WINe with Redhat

Ticket 616, service resource takes over puppetd port
Hello Luke, After our services do now successfully restart, we hit now the already opened bug where the restarted service takes over puppetd port if it''s configured to listen. One solution is to remove the listen option but it''s very nice to invoke a puppetrun on the clients from the central server without waiting for its next run. Where you already able to take a look? It

How to write a catch all rule?
Hi all I''m new to Qos and iproute2, but studied well the documentation. According to http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.qdisc.filters.html, catch all rule should be written as follows: tc filter add dev eth0 protocol ip parent 10: prio 2 \ flowid 10:2 But it doesn''t work because filtertype is missing. Can somebody please kindly explain how to write a catch all rule? Many

passive FTP trafic control
Hi All How to classify packets belonging to a FTP session? Port 21 session is easy. but what about data transfers? Their port numbers (both) are above 1024. I was thinking about ip_conntrack_ftp. Something like: iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp --sport 1024: --dport 1024: \ -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j CLASSIFY --set-class X:Y But what if I also have ip_conntrack_irc, for instance.
