3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled
successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only
programs I supplied where db and libiconv.
I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security,
and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg.
When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11:

PANIC: Could not fetch our SID - did we join?
Hi,
I have some problems running Samba and Winbind 3.0.22 in a AD, kerberos
environment.
I have seen previous posts on several forums about this problem but
haven't found any solution for it yet.
I have no problem with the default Samba package that comes with Ubuntu,
3.0.14a.
But I do wan't to upgrade and the only option in that case seems to be
to compile it.
I compiled it with

Why does fstab fail when command line mount works?
Okay; I'm stumped. My old boss just asked me a question, and I thought I had
an easy answer, but nooooooooo. I also apologize if this has been hashed
out, but I'm unable to find the answers after several pages of Google hits.
Anyway, if I try to do this:
mount -t smbfs -o username=kend,password=blah,workgroup=xanoptix
//freedom/kend /mnt/smb/
from the command line, it works fine.

Virtual-Auth-Problem "user unknown"
After setting up dovecot 1.0beta-2 on a debian(etch) system
I can well login as local user but not vor virtual domains.
When I try to login via POP3 as via IMAP connects (here with
telnet from localhost), I get a strange output "user unknown":

How does one "look at AD" in Samba4.1?
Hi all,
I'm in the process of setting up a test network with the view of
rebuilding our existing (Samba 3.5-based) NT domain, from scratch.
Most of the clients that will be connecting to it are Windows 7
machines, there is one Windows 8.1 Standard machine (that won't be
joining, but not my problem), and a number of Windows XP virtual
machines. Presently I'm running a network

Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
Samba expects the keytab file as /etc/krb5.keytab.
Solaris 11 looks for a keytab file in /etc/krb5/krb5.keytab
When samba joins the domain it (probably) updates the machine password
and then updates its krb5.keytab file. When connecting via ssh,
the system would use a keytab file that had the wrong kvno and probably
the wrong password key.
The following symlink command fixed ssh

Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
I have a Windows 2008 domain (one Win 2008 DC, one Win 2012 R2 DC.)
I am trying to join a Solaris 11 machine to the domain for both Samba
and other services. For "unix" logins and ssh, Solaris 11 is configured
to use LDAP for user and group lookup and kerberos for authentication.
The "kclient -T ms_ad" command joins the Solaris machine to the AD
domain. It even

1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one

Winbind without netbios
Hi there,
Im using for long time winbind + squid for my proxy server and it has
been working very good... No problems at all.
Some months ago, I decided to get rid of Netbios protocol and start to
use only dns for name resolution on my domain. That's when my problem
begin.
All my windows servers and workstations are doing fine without netbios
but I cant get winbind to work without

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi
I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain
controllers.
When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I
only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works.
Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of
using the netbios name works.
This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"

So still looking at this.
So this is the state currently: kerberos setup (krb5.conf and
keytab) is working in the server, I can do kinit properly. But
