Everything seams to work on the ldap server and when I do a ldapsearch like this: ldapsearch -H ldap://l1.dbb.su.se/ -b dc=dbb,dc=su,dc=se ?x Everything works on both. But when I do: ldapsearch -H ldaps://l1.dbb.su.se/ -b

Fedora and Samba
Hi. I am trying to get Samba 3.0.4, from tarball, working with Fedora Core 1. The problem is that I can't get LDAP authentication with either ssl or start_tls support. I tried compiling ldap on a plain install of fedora. I also tried compiling it after installing openssl-0.9.7d and openldap 2.2.11 clients and libraries from tarball. My ldap configuration of samba is as follows:

Samba 3.0.1 and OpenLDAP 2.2.4 with TLS
Hi all, I've been searching the lists and web for an answer but i'm stumped hope some one here has an answer for me. As I'm new to this sysadmin role. I have set up OpenLDAP to authenticate our linux users and exim MTAs. This all works fine with OpenLDAP only providing a ldaps:/// connection on 636. However I cannot for the life of me get samba to speak tls to it. I've seen

need of a user root in ldap ?
Hi ! Is there the need for a root account when using samba-3.0+ldap ? I'm asking this because I cannot add XP workstations to the domain (I made the registry changes), I get an "access denied". Under NT, there's no problem, it does not even ask for a login/password as long as the workstation account is created in samba. With XP, I use a user account who is also part of the

python setup.py ssl error
Hey guys, I'm trying to do a source install of s3cmd onto a centos 6.5 host. Because the version in the repo is a little old. So when I go to run the installer app with the command python2.7 setup.py install, I'm getting the following error: Installed /usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/s3cmd-1.6.0-py2.7.egg Processing dependencies for s3cmd==1.6.0 Searching for six>=1.5 Reading

Fw: LDAP redudancy problem
Doing some other tests, we determinate that the problem occurs when Fileservers and Ldap servers are not on the same IP subnet. When they are on different subnets, the TCP timeout is about 3 minutes. We could change some kernel IP settings (as syn_retries) but we do not want to do that....another side effects would occur.... As the samba 'ldap timeout' parameter seems to be effective

samba-3 PDC & BDC fail-over with 2 LDAP servers fails
Hi, In samba help: samba-bdc.html there is a section available configs: Possible PDC/BDC plus LDAP configurations include: PDC -> LDAP master, with secondary slave LDAP server. BDC -> LDAP slave server, with secondary master LDAP server. So I configured it so and tested samba's ability to switch over to backup LDAP backend. If both LDAP servers are up, everything is just fine. But
