How to give access to /dev/tty
Hello, First I apologize because I sent this email on the lxc-users mailing by error. So sorry for the double message. I'm trying to run an X server inside a container. I was able to achieve this with lxc-tools (and that is why I mixed myself between the 2 lists) by setting the option lxc.tty = 4 that allows access to 4 tty. Now I want to use libvirt because my final goal is to

Ten second intermittent delay on login
Hi, folks, We're experiencing an odd ten-second delay intermittently when logging into any of our Linux boxes which authenticate against LDAP. Here's where it happens: Jul 13 11:54:23 console2 sshd[1853]: debug1: temporarily_use_uid: <my uid\gid> (e=0/0) Jul 13 11:54:35 console2 sshd[1853]: debug1: trying public key file <my key file> My assumption is there's

Still having touble with Redhat 7.1 and windows 2003 DC authentication.
Hi there I'm still going round in circles trying to get winbindd authentication against a 2003 server working. I have what appears to be the same problem as: http://www.ssite.org/articles/view.aspx?class=2&articleid=2 There's something wrong with the SMB Packet signing on this machine. In parallel, I succcessfully built and have got working samba-devel on FreeBSD 5.1 against the

Samba samba-3.0.11 Upgrade Problems
I recently upgraded a backup fileserver used for testing purposes from samba-3.0.10 to the current samba-3.0.11 using the FreeBSD portupgrade. The fileserver is setup in a W2K AD. The fileserver uses Winbind to get AD accounts and shares are created on the Samba server. Worked fine until the upgrade. Here is a copy of the current smb.conf [global] unix charset = LOCALE

No MySQL password in ps aux!
I just noticed that some CentOS 4 or 5 machine that I don't admin but have root access to hides MySQL passwords from ps: Console 1: $ mysql -u root -pSECRET mysql > Console2: # ps aux root 32165 0.0 0.1 109408 2204 pts/1 Ss+ 11:19 0:00 mysql -u root -px xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx That is really nice, is it a MySQL feature or a CentOS feature? I have some other servers that I _do_

Numerous errors trying to authenticate samba against w2k3
My goal is to authenticate a Windows 2003 Server user from a FreeBSD 4.10 box via samba. A week ago I had this working. I then needed to verify the procedure and test on a fresh install. Now it doesn't work, despite doing the same steps (I think). I generated a Kerberos ticket on the w2k3 box and transfered it to the FreeBSD box. I used the ktutil command to incorporate the ticket into

Question about trusted domain list in samba-4.4.x
Hi list, This is my domain enviroment and all DC are windows 2008r2 http://i.imgur.com/8cNOtm2.jpeg When I used samba-4.0.5, I join my box to domain "HC1" , I got trusted domain "CHILD2" in "wbinfo -m". [/share/Public] # wbinfo -m BUILTIN MYBOX HC1 CHILD1 TREEROOT HC2 CHILD2 Then I upgraded my box to samba-4.4.4, I lost CHILD2 in "wbinfo -m".

Samba 3.0.2a with ADS w2k3 Active Directory, enctypes
Hi, I'm about an article: This is a bug in Win2k3. See knowledgebase KB833708. The KB article itself isn't correct, because it states that if you request des-cbc-crc you'll get des-cbc-md5 tickets, but in reality you get rc4-hmac tickets. The KB article points you to a hotfix or a registry setting. I have the problem with W2003+samba, tried even that patch, but nothing

winbind 3.0.11 breaks winbind trust if netbios disabled?
Hi all. I've just upgraded from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 and now my server can no longer establish a trust relationship with the domain controllers. It appears to be because we have netbios turned off (in config: disable netbios = yes). I was getting this error: trusted_domains: Could not open a connection to DBG for PIPE_NETLOGON (NT_STATUS _DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND ...so I searched the list

Client accessing Samba doesn't authenticate against Active Directory
When a Windows client attempts to browse shares on a Samba 3.0 server authenticating against a Windows 2003 Active Directory domain, it requests credentials. Typing in user name and password fails. Basically, I can't see even see the shares. If I give username/password for a user in smbpasswd, then I can browse the Samba server. Configuration info: ADS server: LICENSE ADS server IP:

Custom VFS
Hi I would like to create custom VFS that would redirect all calls to my backend. Few questions: 1) is it possible to use Java with JNI wrapper to communicate with my backend or does it have to be pure C/C++ ? 2) are the notifications (file deletion/creation etc.) available in VFS, in other words notifying samba server and applications that directory has changed? 3) are there any

How to handle secure AD dynamic DNS registrations?
Hi, My apologies for the newbie question/dumb-question-of-the-day but when searching the archives I couldn't see the wood for the trees :-/ Are there any good walkthroughs/RTFMs out there for troubleshooting getting samba to register DNS entries to an AD controller that requires secure updates? I have a CentOS 6 server that seems to be set up correctly. Initially it worked fine, but then

Becomming a CentOS contributor
Good evening, CentOS community, My name is Gytis Repecka, I am a Lithuanian computer specialist. My acquaintance with CentOS started not so long ago: even though I managed some web servers running Red Hat-based OS for several years, only couple months ago I've set up CentOS on my desktop, later - on a laptop. I've recently solved issues with WLAN on my laptop (thanks to CentOS forum

SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
I am running Samba 3.0.9/KRB5 1.4 on Centos 3.4 on x86 with security = ADS in a Win2k3 domain. I have successfully used kinit to authenticate, joined the domain, and wbinfo -g/-u/-t return the expected results. However, when I try and access the samba shares from a Win2k3 box, it fails telling me I don't have permissions to access the share. Needless to say I am thoroughly perplexed. I have
