3.0.20a winbind getent problem...
Hi all,
I have successfully setup squid on 1 host to authenticate users against win2k AD using Samba+Winbind.
On a second host I now wish to do the same and have installed from source using the same options, but cannot get any getent calls to work with winbind, even though wbinfo -t shows the trust being OK, wbinfo -g shows domain groups and wbinfo -i shows domain users.
This is level 10 debug

Advice needed for Samba 3 setup for multiple Linux boxes in established Win2k AD domain...
Hi all,
I have the lucky task of being able to set-up a DEV environment for our developers. We plan on using redhat 9 with Samba 3 and making each server an AD domain member of an established Win2K domain.
The advice I would like is the best way to implement this, I'd like to hopefully leave the Win2K domain admins power to create users on the Win2K domain, and automatically add users to the

10 X Linux boxes - join win2k AD (mixed mode)
Hi All,
I'd like to know your views on the following:
I have around 10 Linux servers, any that run samba or on version 2.2.* they have there own smbpasswd files, but are within the same win2k browse domain.
I'd like to upgrade to samba 3.0.* and currently use openldap to authenticate Unix users to any of the Linux boxes.
I'd like to get rid of using multiple smbpasswd files, and

Win2k AD with LDAP unix auth
Hi,
I'd like to know if this is actually possible, a simple yes or no would suffice, but any pointers would be more helpful...
I'd like to have windows users within the AD be able to access a linux server share (having been authenticated by AD), and read / write / execute files within that share according to unix permissions (obtained by an Open LDAP server running on another Linux

getent passwd/group not returning AD users password information on RH9 Samba AD Member Server
Hello.
My goal -
Single Sign On (quite lofty, hmmm?) between my Win2K AD Domain
Controller, which holds all the user accounts information, and my RH9
internet gateway/mail server which uses qmail as MTA. I also want to
achieve having users in a remote office (several states away) to have
the same domain controls applied to them - i want to deploy Samba on as
a Domain Member Server. I would like

RH9/W2K Networking
Hi,
I've searched for days to find some step by step instructions but
haven't found anything that seems to work.
I have two boxes:
Red Hat 9 with a net connection
Win2K with a CD-ROM drive
Both have working Realtek 10/100 NICs with just a cable connecting them
directly (no switch/hub/etc).
I want to be able to access the net from my win2k machine and access the
cd-rom from my Red

Sambe max file size on RH9
I'm getting a "max file size exceeded" when copying from knoppix 3.3. to
RH9 over a samba share when the file gets to be >2G in size. This is
samba 3.0.2a on server, 3.0.2-Debian on client.
I googled a bit, and the more recent one (2003) directed the user to get
a build that was built on their Linux 2.4 system. I installed from an
RPM I downloaded for RH9 (3.0.2a), I

PS7 vs RH9 on Wine
Ok. I attached my current config file just in case. I set it to run as
win2k and copied over the commdlg and COMDLG32 dlls from native windows
2000. (does it matter if they might be updated with service packs?) i
then added "winspool" = "" in the dll overrides so that it wouldnt load
the printspool.drv because for some reason when i started it would show

I am using samba 4.10.7 and it seems to have bug for using @group in valid

Samba 3.0.1 ADS/Kerberos problems relating to Win2k/xp browsing to samba server
Hello All,
I've been discovering the joys of Samba/ADS integration here
(the environment is a chip design concern that has chip
simulation tools, many of which run in Linux, but some of
which only run in Windows. Winbind, and a Linux based
NAS server are the cornerstone through which Windows and

I am consistently getting "libtalloc.so.1: No such file or directory" when attempting to 'make' any version of samba.
I've tried all of the suggestions from the list archives on this subject.
Using Solaris 9 sparc.
Current versions are:
gcc 3.4.6 (sunfreeware pkg)

Problem with Samba 3 as member server in Win2K/ADS domain
Hi,
I'm having problems getting Samba 3 working in a Win2K/ADS domain. I
don't want Samba to be a PDC - just a member server. I have two boxes,
aquarius (Windows 2000 Server DC) and gemini (Debian Linux, current
development version)
I do both a kinit, and a net ads join successfully, but if I try to
access shares on the DC, I get:
# smbclient -k -L aquarius

validation of acts_as_list in the model of the base class?
Lets say I have 3 models, user, user_group and user_group_nodes. A
normal user has one user_group_id as a foreign key and a special user
has multiple user_groups which are defined in the user_group_nodes.
The user_group_nodes is a "acts_as_list" for user and contains a list
of group_ids.
When I build a form to get user input and I want to save it, is there
a way to validate the
