Default printer environment variable
Hello All, I'm trying to get the iSeries Access for Linux client (IBM 5250 emulator) working on a CentOS 4.4 system. The client is mostly working - it connects to the remote AS/400, the custom keymap I created is recognized, etc. The only problem is printing to a local printer. The docs for the client state that it reads the default printer environment variable to figure out which printer

force b/w printing
Has anyone an idea, how to force users to print b/w on a color printer. We are in the process to deploy color printers to some of our offices where they use centos 5.5 as their OS. They need the printers to print some advertisement material. But for everything else, they don't need it. And because of the costs of the color printing we would like to force them to use B/W where not explicitly

how do I use only black ink?
I have an HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-one. As I haven't had any need for color lately, when I last replaced ink, I only replaced the black cartridge. It didn't work, even when printing grayscale-only images, even when telling print-set-up grayscale-only. Is there a way to tell my printer to use only the black ink cartridge. My test image is a handmade postscript file that only use setgray

coalesce columns within a data frame
Dear all, I searched the mail archives and the R site and found no guidance (tried "merge", "cbind" and terms like "coalesce" with no success). There surely is a way to coalesce (like in SQL) columns in a dataframe, right? For example, I would like to go from a dataframe with two columns to one with only one as follows: From Name.x Name.y nx1 ny1 nx2 NA

Samba 2.2 + CUPS driver download work for anyone?
I have tried everything I could possibly think of to get printer driver download working with Samba 2.2.3a-6 and CUPS 1.1.15-4 (latest Debian unstable packages). I am wondering if anyone else has go this to work at all (with newer versions of samba or cups?) -- if so please let me know to give me some hope. Or else I am thinking this is officially 'broken'. CUPS is working perfectly

Duplex Printing
Hi People, This may be slightly off topic if so please let me know. My situation is I have a bunch of Fedora clients connecting to a CentOS Printer server (setup using cups). I have gone through and used Vendor supplied ppd files where possible. And basic printing is working. But, Duplex printing doesn't. The Printers I am using are mostly Brother / HP with a few MFD's from

Is there a way to set default paper size for CentOS?
I've been a Debian geek for a long time but for a work project I've started using CentOS recently. In Debian I can set the default paper size to US-Letter for the system using dpkg-reconfigure libpaper1 Is there an equivalent configuration option for CentOS? If not, what configuration files do I need to edit? Thanks! Rick

Novice question
Hello. I am new R user, so this question is probably quite stupid, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get predications using multivariate linear regression analysis. Single variable predictions work fine. I am trying the following: -- Known y's for known x's1 and x's2 ys <- c(133890, 135000, 135790, 137300, 138130, 139100, 139900, 141120, 141890, 143230, 144000,

samba3, cups, and pointprint drivers install
Hello, I've got a redhat9 system with cups and samba3 installed. I want to use this machine for both local and network printing. On the local side apps can print just fine, the cups configuration is working great. Network-side is not the case. I've got a mixture of 2k and 9x clients, so i'm going to need drivers for both configurations. In smb.conf i've got: printcap name = cups
