2.4.13
Hi all,
I've downloaded the http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413.gz file
and want to know what to do with it once it's unzipped. Is it a patch file or
is it a compiled kernel? I need an ext3 patch for kernel 2.4.13, I then need
to patch kernel 2.4.13 with win4lin.
TIA

df report
'df' doesn't report my root partition, but does report my
/boot partition when both are mounted with <type> auto. But
when mounted with <type> ext3, both partitions are reported.
Details:
The system has mount-2.11m, tune2fs-1.25 and df (fileutils) 4.1
I just created an ext3 fs on a new Debian Woody install initially
running linux-2.2.19 on ext2, but upgraded to

gunzip error message
I downloaded the ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413.gz file. When I issue the gunzip < ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413.gz | patch -p1 command, I get an error message that states the file is not in gunzip format. I would appreciate any recommendations on this problem.

initramfs gunzip problems.
I've been having an exchange of e-mails with Bryan O'Sullivan regarding
this problem. I thought it time to bring it to the list.
I've run into a problem where my initramfs archives get this during
bootup:
checking if image is initramfs...it isn't (ungzip failed); looks like an initrd
The same .cpio archive works if I don't gzip it. I stuck a bunch of
debug statements into

tar and gunzip help
HI All,
I have a directory tree that when the user un-gzips/untars it does
into /opt by default.
The directory tree is like:
ugui
|
|-- <misc files>
|-- source
|-----framework
|------ <misc files>
so when unzipped I want to end it with /opt/ugui and all the stuff
below it.
How do I do this? Can I also issue one command that will unzip and
untar the archive at the same time?

memdisk + grub2 consumes lot of memory
Hi all,
I think I have asked about this before but I do not know
whats happening. I have problems booting syslinux in my GPT disk which
I have asked in a separate topic "Boot Error GPT partition" . I loaded
https://github.com/skodabenz/Tianocore_DUET_memdisk_compiled (append
options - floppy ro nopass) . Using syslinux when it was booting
properly, did not lead to loss of RAM.

Questions on cpu frequency scaling AMD vs. Intel
I've been playing and comparing frequency scaling between AMD and Intel
CPUs yesterday and there seem to be great differences between AMD and
Intel and some gotchas. This is all on CentOS 5.2 with latest Xen kernels
(which are supposed to be powersaving-enabled since 5.2).
AMD:
It seems once I get the AMD CPU to use the ondemand governor it works very
well and very efficiently. But this
