ACL's and permissions
I'm really struggling with ACL's and permissions. I have a share owned
by a user (douglas). Douglas can read, write and create to the share:
[public]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /home/samba/pub
nt acl support = yes
public = yes
admin users = douglas
write list = douglas
I'm logged in to Win2000 as douglas. Through the security tab on
Win2000 I add read and

Add user using Windows ACL Dialog
Hi list...
I'm using samba 3.0.10-1 from debian testing. I have a working setup with
security=user and ACL's. I can edit ACLs with setfacl and view and modify
those with the Windows ACL Dialog.
When I try to add a user with the windows ACL dialog, it asks for username
and password, and no matter what password i provide i'm not able to browse
or add users. Is there something i must do

ACL's vs Share definitions (Trying again)
I have the Win2000 client(s) in a Samba domain. Domain authentication
works fine, my "homes" share works fine, remote profiles work fine.
Using 3.0.1Pre1 I would like to add people to "someshare" through the
Security tab, and control their access through windows ACL's.
How should I setup a share as a basis for doing this?
The share below (someshare) in this email

Has anybody got ACL to work w/ debian, winbindd in a w2k mixed domain?
Im seriously thinking about changing dist. due to acl won't work as they
should with debian woody. Ppl also tell me this is because of some bug in
debian. So, as the subject says, anybody got acl to work w/ debian 3,
winbindd in a domain? If not, hello redhat..

Samba ACL and '+' on a 'ls - l'
Dear Guys,
I have noticed that one of our domain users folder in
/var/lib/samba/profiles has a '+' on the end of their username folder
and all the files in their profile too.
I know this is to do with ACL's and I know Samba can translate Windows
ACL's to filesystem acls, but where can I find out where/how they are
getting created and remove them.
They should be know different

Should I use winbind in this case
I can't seem to get an answer to this question...
Should I use winbind if my Domain Controller is a samba machine? Or is
it only useful if my DC is a real MS DC and I have other unix/linux
client machines?
I'm strictly wanting to provide file and domain logon services to
Win2000 machines via a samba DC. There are no other DC's involved.

Samba 3.0 issues with mapped drives properties
Mandrake 9.1 Samba 3.0, windows2000 pro sp4.
I finally got Samba 3.0 working thanks to G?mes G?za. Now I am having
another issue as outlined below:
1)There are 2 users on the Linux pc, markw (regular user) and root. Both
have valid samba passwords.
2)I have a share called:
[data]
path = /test
valid users = markw, root
read only = No
browseable = yes
3)I am able to map the share with the user

Still can't figure out ACL issues
Yah, jimc again.
I still cannot figure out what is wrong with my dc. The problem began
with being unable to log on from Windows boxes after a power hit.
The initial symptoms were:
1) When I log in on a Windows machine, with an account that should have
administrator permissions, I don't have said admin rights.
2) When I attempt to launch the Windows remote server tools, I can

Fix sharing ACL
Dear Rowland,
I changed smb.conf as its tip.
I had already read about the ACL's Windows and Posix.
Even changing the smb.conf and using the ACL methods, I still do not write access to the folder.
Example:
# mkdir /mnt/data/teste1
# ls -all /mnt/data/teste1
total 12
drwxrws---+ 2 administrator domain admins 6 Out 25 10:05 .
drwxrwxr-x+ 10 root domain admins 4096 Out 25

ACL Question [Repost]
OK so I've got samba-3.0.11 compiled with ACL support. I've running
2.4.25 with the ACL/ATTR patch applied. I can read and set ACLS's using
the getfacl/setfacl programs. ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows it's linked to
libattr.so.1 and libacl.so.1. I can read ACL with the smbcacls program,
but when I try to set them I get:

ACLs with samba
Hi-
I am experiencing some odd behavior with ACLs with winbindd using Samba 2.6
on Debian Woody (kernel version 2.4.18).
1. I am unable to alter permissions from Win2K clients using the
Properties->Security interface. Is this normal? I get the "Unable to save
Permission Changes on new Folder. Access is denied." message. This occurs
with all accounts, both privileged and

XFS-ACL-Samba: Trouble adding acls
Hi,
I recently tried to use ACLs with samba. XFS is running, I can set ACLs
using setfacl and read them with getfacl, no problem so far. Samba
compiled fine with '--with-acl-support'.
Now I set up a share with 'nt acl support = yes', put there a file and
added an acl with 'setfacl':
root@edjo[ACLTEST]# getfacl datei.txt
# file: datei.txt
# owner: odenbach
# group:
