Spool files not deleted when "printing = cups"
We're using the built-in CUPS interface for printing from Samba and this, as shipped, leaves the spool files in the directory defined by [printers] path = whatever in smb.conf. Other printing types typically explicitely delete these files as part of the print command but the CUPS interface doesn't offer any facility to do this. A possible solution is, as in the attached patch, to delete

printing issue after update to 3.6.1
Hello, we've updated to 3.6.1 yesterday, and since encounter problems with printing for some users. There's a descriptive error in the log.smbd, but I can't see what to do about it really (the rest of the, admittedly fairly ancient system, is the same base system as the previous 3.5.5 - only a couple of security updates were patched in during downtime). The message in log.smbd is:

S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Hi all, I've just set up a Samba 3.0.0 PDC (LDAP+nss) on FreeBSD 5.1, with CUPS as default print stack, which begins to work nicely. I'm configuring a PDF pseudo printer, with the following share : [pdfwriter] comment = Imprimante PDF : g?n?re un fichier PDF printing = bsd path = /var/tmp printable = Yes print command = /usr/local/bin/printpdf -u

Problems with CUPS and a networked epson printer
I have an Epson Stylus Color 880, connected to our network via an external ethernet printserver. I used to run lprng on the samba server (which is a domain controller), and the Windows clients had one minor problem accessing this printer via Samba (2.2.3a, then): Every time a client wanted to print, the Epson status monitor on the client would complain about communication problems with the

unlink data file in cups_job_submit
With samba-2.2.5, cups-1.1.14, and printcap=cups, I find that I have to explicitly clean up old print data files in /var/spool/samba with a cron job. With a traditional LPR, we use -r to tell lpr to remove the file for us after the file is spooled. With cups, we send it over ipp, and I think we should then unlink the data file ourselves. Does this seem right? --- print_cups.c~ Thu May

RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer). Hi, We have an issue with Samba panicking after an error connecting to CUPS (see log below). Samba 3.0.7 CUPS 1.1.20 Debian Woody After the panic, CUPS is still oparational, but not Samba. I have to kill -9 the smbd process befor I can restart it using the init scripts. Any pointers welcome. [2004/11/04 13:55:43, 1] smbd/server.c:open_sockets_smbd(348) Reloading services after SIGHUP

Corrupted ntprinters.tdb
Hi, we are experiencing periodic problems with our samba/cups setup: It seems like workstations which are locked but where users with the SePrintOperatorPrivilege are logged on destroy the ntprinters.tdb. This always takes place when the logrotate on the sambaserver runs the postrotatescript and restarts cups while the client is doing whatever it has to do. /var/log/messages says:

[LLVMdev] VS build is broken again
Ted, Attached is the diff against TOT. It makes the VS build work for me. Solution/project files work with VS 2005. Project files in clang need not to be modified. As it happens, the solution file for clang is part of the llvm tree ( go figure... ) Thanks Dmitri --- Ted Kremenek <kremenek at apple.com> wrote: > Hi Dmitri, > > I know what you are saying, but in the end I

[LLVMdev] VS build is broken again
Hi Dmitri, I know what you are saying, but in the end I think we are lucky if diffs against project files have any meaningful information. Nobody right now assumes responsibility for regularly updating the VS files, so we routinely get patches from different people when they decide to upgrade the project files, and these patches change the .sln files in arbitrary ways. cups compiling problem in Samba 2.2
OK, I have found the solution for missing cups.h. But why didn't you mention in some readme file, that it must be downloaded from www.cups.org? Now there's another annoying problem (I have downloaded cups-1.1.7-source.tar.gz). error messages
I have a brand new in stall of samba4 on a FreeBSD 10 machine and I am getting these messages on the console practically all the time. I have actually disabled load printer list in globals but it does not seem to make any difference, I am not intending to use it as a printserver at all, just for files, it is to replace a system which is quite old and running out of space Jul 11 20:24:25

On a fresh installation of XCP 1.6 there is no interface in XCP Network Management. While in comman line ifconfig -a shows me both physical interfaces.
