Roaming profiles migration
Hi, I've to migrate transparently a NT4 PDC to a SAMBA-LDAP-PDC with 1000 users. Each user has a roaming profile on the NT server. Of course, I want to migrate all the roaming profiles automaticaly on the Samba server without any intervention on clients ! How can do that ? How to preserve the ownership of each profile ? Thank you, -- Rapha?l Berghmans <rberghmans@arafox.com>

idmap mapping questions
Hi, I've setup a samba 3 server. The mapping between SID and uid is done by idmap. When a user create a file on the server, the owner of this file cannot be resolved by Linux (the uid cannot be resolved to the human name). Then in smb.conf list (for example : printer admin) I've to setup the uid of a user and not his real name otherwise the user is considered as unknown ! How to deal

What's happend when the UID/SID mapping changes for a computer account ?
Hi, Could you please tell me, what's happend when the UID/SID mapping changes for a computer account ? In my previous mail, I explain that suddenly every computers of my domain was unable to connect to our samba logon server. Before this problem, a 'net rpc vampire' was done to resynchronize the samba ldap-sam with the NT4 PDC, and samba has been restarted, I suspect that after

Two differents sambaSID ! Very strange !
Hi, I've configured the SambaSID of my domain manualy with "net setlocalsid S-1-...." I've done a check with "net getlocalsid" and everything seems to be ok, but when I add a new user with smbpasswd, his sambaSID doesn't correspond to the Domain SambaSID ! And in the LDAP directory, the sambaSID of the sambaDomain ObjectClass doens't correspond to the officiel

wbinfo -c duplicate entry
Hi, With "wbinfo -c user", a entry is created in winbind_idmap.tdb. But if I retype the same command with same username a second entry (with a different uid) is created in tdb file. Is behavior normal ? See you, -- Rapha?l Berghmans <rberghmans@arafox.com>

Group mapping
Hi everybody, Since two days I'm trying to migrate a whole NT4 PDC to Samba-3 with the "net rpc vampire". Each user and computer accounts are correctly added in LDAP directory. But for every account this message appears during the migration : Primary group of xxxx has no mapping! An other problem is that none of the 558 groups is added in LDAP directory. Then, in my smb.conf

LDAP access problem
Hi, My Samba-3.0.0 is configured as PDC. I've joined a W2k wks on this domain and everything works perfectly. However, when I try to add ACL on a file or directory located on the server, the display of the 1700 users and 570 groups take a while (20-30 sec), the slapd process use about 90% of CPU. In the slapd.conf index objectClass pres,eq index uidNumber eq index gidNumber eq index cn

Strange ACL entry
Hi, I've added ACL entry from W2k on a Directory located on Samba-3.0.0 server. Everything seems to be Ok. But when I check directly on the Linux server with "getfacl Directory" I see : # file: Directory # owner: Administrator # group: Domain Users user::rwx group::r-x group:2147481760:rwx group:2147482762:r-- mask::rwx other::r-x default:user::rwx default:group::---

Windows clients reboot when opening document on the Samba server
Hi, I'm using a Samba 3.0.7 as PDC and files server. Everything works fine except for several windows stations. Sometimes those stations reboot automaticaly when a winword document (find on the file server) is opened. There is no problem if the document is on the local disk. I've already disabled oplocks but without success. This problem occurs only with read-write file. If the unix

Unable to join samba server to a NT4 style domain/Sam ba-Guide feedback
John, The restrictanonymous setting was the primary culprit in Ash's issue. I think he's using basically the same setup as I am; no winbind/LDAP involved. I'm thinking there's some initial handshaking that requires an anonymous connection to PDC, and it's being blocked if the restrictanonymous setting is too high. I sent a note to Ash (& the list) asking for the

RCSS problems
Hi List! Following http://rcss.rubyforge.org/files/README.html, I''m trying to get RCSS to work with Rails. The rcss command itself works fine, but when trying to access http://localhost:3000/rcss/test.css I always get "Unknown action - No action responded to test.css", which I don''t understand since the route and controller are in place. Anyway, hopefully this is

Winbind on Solaris 2.6
It would appear that communication with the PDC is fine - all other commands (-t, -m, -s SID, -n name, etc.) work OK, it's just the group/user enumeration calls that appear to fail. Has anybody got any ideas whatsoever - I think it has to be a problem on the NT PDC side as, according to the debug log at level 10: 000018 samr_io_r_query_dispinfo 0018 total_size : 00000000 001c
