Problem: Copying large amount of files to SAMBA Server. W2K Error "file in use" for exe files.
Hi all,
first i want to say a big "Hello" to the list, since this is my first posting here.
Yesterday i just installed another SAMBA server on a middle class (K6-2 500, 128MB)
machine.
All shares are accessable like expected but i often get an
"Can't move file. File in use." error from my W2K client when moving large
amount of files to the SAMBA server.
This error

Problem: Copying large amount of files to SAMBA Server. W2KError "file in use" for exe files
At the risk of stating the obvious but 2.2.3a is rather old - try updating to the latest stable 2.2.x series of Samba. After that you might want to look into the options relating to "Oplocks"
>>I am wondering if anybody has expected the same problem before?
The only idea i have is that this error occures because i have a lot of

PXE boot of linux-2.4.*
I used linux.0 from the pxe package of redhat linux 7.2.
It's successfully boot vmlinuz-2.2.19, but when I try to boot
vmlinuz-2.4.14, it reboots after Setup() call in linux.c
The phrase "Uncompressing linux" does not appear.
What I ought to do to successfully boot linux-2.4.14 kernel image?
Best regards,
Dmitry.

root fs upgraded to ext3 on rh 6.2 based machine problem when not cleanly unmounted
Hello,
I search through but I didn't find a clear answer about it.
I have a rh 6.2 based box where I made many steps of upgrades.
Some of them, not being available the binary rpm glibc 2.1 based, I
obtained using src.rpm from rh 7.2 and then runnig
#rpm --rebuild package.src.rpm
and then installing the generated binary: great sw rpm!!!
My rpm version is 4.0.2-6x for both rpm, rpm-devel,

2.6.22-rc1 killed my ext3 filesystem cleanly unmounted
Hi,
I just tried the 2.6.22-r1 candidate to test whether some bug I have
hit in the past still exists. I did use 2.6.20.6 so far. So, I have
cleanly rebooted to use the new kernel, after the machine came up I
tried to mess with the bug, and had to reboot again to play with kernel
commandline parameters. Unfortunately, on the next reboot fsck was
schedules on my filesystem after 38 clean

Feature request: Multi-head awareness in compiz and plugins
There have been offered several patches in order to forward Xinerama
support to Xgl and patches for compiz to make use of it (like iXce's
ones, which were ignored).
So far the patched up compiz is working pretty good and makes it
effectively usable in such setups (aside of that those patches will
always drift away from official CVS and need to be touched for each
commit).
However it seems

multiple cards and monitors with xrandr and opengl
Dear Devs,
We have achieved a desktop of up to six monitors, with openGL running
succesfully on the desktop, with the following setup/features:
* Ubuntu 16+
* Xrandr
* Noveau driver
* Two gtx750 graphic cards
Each (identical) graphic card has 2xHDMI + 2xDVI connectors, which we
connect to the monitor array.
So far it works with six monitors, but we'd like to achieve eight.
However,

4 monitors with one graphics card and standard driver
I've just test an ATI FirePro 2460 graphics card on CentOS 6.4. It
connects 4 monitors.
It worked with the standard radeon driver. I was able to arrange the
monitors into my
preferred configuration (as a square array, 1 upper left, 2 lower left, 3
lower right, 4
upper right) simply by clicking System -> Preferences -> Display, and then
moving the
four monitor images. This creates the

X11 device distortion (PR#10666)
Full_Name: Thomas Zumbrunn
Version: 2.6.1
OS: GNU/Linux (openSuse 10.3 2.6.22.13-0.3-default)
Submission from: (NULL) (131.152.125.199)
With my particular X11 settings, the width to height ratio of the x11 device is
distorted, with the width being half that of the height. This results in wrongly
proportioned plots, wrongly positioned text etc.
Other devices are not affected.

ext3/2.2.19 vs. ext3/2.4.14
Hi,
I am starting to do some benchmarks using mongo (www.namesys.com), and I
am surprised by the big difference between ext3/2.2.19 and ext3/2.4.14.
Sometimes the latter performs 3 or 4 times faster. Someone has similar
results or is there something wrong in my test ? Attached is the
benchmark.
By the way, during the test, I got the message

[PATCH xf86-video-nouveau] Do not register hotplug without RandR
When using Xinerama, RandR is automatically disabled, and calling RR
routines will trigger an assert() because the RR keys/resources are
not set, leading to an Xserver abort.
Hotplug makes little sense without RandR, so no need to install a
udev monitor if RandR is not available.

I am trying to compile compiz 0.5.0 on SLED 10 SP1. I have installed all the requirements as per the docs but when I run

beryl fork
I've seen that a lot of inaccurate and faulty information about this.
All technical reasons (alternative configuration system, alternative
decorator, xinerama...) for this fork are incorrect and I know that at
least Quinn Storm is aware of this, based on a phone conversation we had
last week.
I've designed compiz to be extremely extensible. The plugin system

x11() and Xinerama settings
Hello
Since I changed my X11 settings to a Xinerama setup, calls to x11() result in
windows with a width half the size of the one specified by the corresponding
parameter. Furthermore, x axis labels are overlapping. Other devices (e.g.
pdf()), are not affected by these distortions.
Did anybody have the same problem, and if so, how did you solve it? ( I'm

ATI video driver problems
User got upgraded to 6.4. Graphical mode video fails.
It's an AMD (nee ATI) RV620 (FirePro 2260).
So I finished upgrading everything, including kmod-fglrx. Based on the
xorg.conf's on there, it's been using the fglrx. Now, in Xorg.0.log, it
tells me "no supported AMD display adapters were found". I've been
on-and-off googling for hours, and can't figure out if the
