Printing Through Samba From Windows
I want to consolidate some NT/Linux machines into a single Linux machine running samba. I have a Brother Printer/Scanner/Fax combo that is not supported by Linux. If I set this printer up under samba and access it from a Windows client on the network, won't I be using the Windows driver? It seems to me it should work ok like this, since I believe that Windows will just see it as a network

Question about samba servers
I have one samba server as the PDC for our org. Another samba server is supposed to permit access to shares based on authentication from the aforementioned PDC. I'll call this second computer "SMB" for simplicity. PDC has an LDAP and PAM database for authenticating all users. SMB is setup as follows (smb.conf): workgroup = NPC-USA netbios name = SMB server string = %h server

Is comment order meaningful?
The spec seems to be unclear on this: should two comment haeders who only differ in the order of comments be considered equevalent? VCE shows comments in the order read and allows to store them in any order (it has move up/down buttons). Comment editors with a fixed layout (like the commmon TITLE/ARTIST/etc. fields in PP's winamp plugin) don't show the order and give no control of it.

I will ceck that option later, thanks... Actually I have another problem.... But I guess your proposition produces even more overhead than parsing a temp-file.+ Usually I'd really like to 'dock' to some C++-Interface because of speed etc but there isnt really much out there... Greets and thanks! Gee

metadata 2
Hoi folks, I don't like to post in newsletter because of several reason but sometimes it isn't evitable. I am setting up a internet-radio-show (exclusively live, including 2 video-streams) and I want to read out the audio-metadata of momentarily played tracks in realtime to compare it against a SQL-database. The aim is to fill up and/or update a table with 'most played'

SRV records not added by subsequent DC's
Hello, sorry to ask this many questions, but I want to know why things happen they way they do and if perhaps something is wrong. Our new, shiny domain created by classicupgrade consists of 4 (four) domain controllers. dc1 was the first, which was created by classicupgrade. Then I added dc2, dchks and dcirm using samba-tool domain join iww.lan DC -U "IWW\Administrator"

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

Undeletable objects in AD
Hello, after migration from a NT style domain to Samba AD (running 4.7.8) with the classicupgrade method I have two group objects in the AD tree with german umlauts which I can't access or delete. When I try I get a error which says literally "object not found on the server". Same when using other LDAP tools. It's not a great problem, but how can I get rid of this two group

Using LDAP and Unix Group Group Mappings
Hello all, I could not find anything in the discussion groups or documentation about using LDAP and Unix group mappings. The documentation states that in order to map unix groups to samba groups, you need to use the net group add command. However, I have an ldap backend and all my groups, that I care about are in LDAP. So I have a group called mainwdev. dn:

randomForest Tutorial
I am new to R and I'd like to use the randomForest package for my thesis (identifying important variables for more detailed analysis with other software). I have found extremely well written and helpful information on the usage of R. Unfortunately it seems to be very difficult to find similarly detailed tutorials for randomForest, and I just can't get it work with the information on

Hey Rui, glad that I can help out. I was going to use lld in the following scenario: I'm writing a programming language and started with unit-tests that build ASTs for small test cases. I then want to generate

xen: when devices go away...
Hi there, I''ve been experimenting with iscsi and xen and have found an interesting behavior. I''d reasoned that using iscsi volumes as devices in a software RAID1 configuration would be a Good Idea since when one of the iscsi servers goes away the filesystem is stable. I have a dom0 which has access to two iscsi volumes on two seperate iscsi target servers. I configure a domU

fstat() errors on /srv/mail/<username>/dovecot.index.log
Dovecot version 2.1.7 Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Kernel 3.2.0-35-generic x86_64 I'm not sure exactly when this started occurring, but sporatically users report issues receiving email, having email saved to "Sent," etc. Looking in dovecot.log, I see the following errors: 2013-10-16 09:53:20 imap-login: Info: Login: user=<user1>, method=PLAIN, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, mpid=27434,
