printers: access denied -- but why?
I am running 2.2.3a-12.3 on Debian stable with Win2k machine and an XP machine on a small home network. I have only just started using printer support and seemed to have it fine with a postscript and a "raw" connection for the HP LJ5MP printer (with internal PS) working fine from W2k and WXP. Then I took the server down as I'll need another parallel port in it. Rebooted after

Multiple TCP/IP printers and smb
I am having trouble setting up our two HP TCP/IP printers under samba. Both of these printers are listed in the /etc/printcap and printing works fine from linux. Bellow is a copy of the /etc/smb.conf file: ; /etc/smb.conf ; ; Make sure and restart the server after making changes to this file, ex: ; /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop ; /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start [global]

Automounting Windows XP share on Linux
I have /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.smb such that ls /smb/<name of system> works for the two Win98 machines on my network (the machines get automatically mounted and the directory contains "C"). When I try the same command on the Windows XP machine, I get No such file or directory The auto.smb file that came with my OS (Libranet 3) uses smbclient to get a list of

Using printers with SAMBA
Hello, I have a Linux box with 2 printers attached and 1 scanner. One printer connects with LPT1, the other with USB and the scanner is USB also. I want to share all these within my local network. For that, I installed Samba. When I start the Linux box, the parallel printer starts to print rubbish. I supposed that was a problem with the printer itself, but I switched on alone without the printer

Power Law Exponents
I am having difficulty with the calculation of the power law exponent for set of nodes within a graph. Specifically, I am interested in the distribution of in-degree and out-degree among communities of web pages where the web pages are the nodes of the graph and the hyperlinks the edges. According to the literature, the distribution of incoming and outgoing links obeys a power law distribution

How to mount NT share & maintain NT share permission via SMB for LTSP user??
When a regular user (say, "jmc") logs onto my Linux (LTSP, Samba, DHCP) server via his LTSP terminal I need an NT drive share to be mounted with the permissions that NT intends. Our NT file print server has a directory named "private" which contains subdirectories for each user. Each user has NT read/write permissions to his/her private subdir and no others. I need for each

A little help w/ Debian Samba and XP clients
Hi list. I'm a Marine based near San Diego CA and I'm trying to setup a Libranet/Debian box as a file and printserver. The main goal is printing right now. I have good connectivity (ping and resolve by NETBIOS name). I have enabled File and Print Sharing on my Windows clients as well as making the appropriate entries in my hosts file. NETBIOS is aslo enabled as well as using the

Problems with Intel Netport Printserver and Samba
Running RH6.0 I am able to print just fine from linux, the problem now is getting smb printing working. I am using an Intel Netport Express PRO/100 printserver. Previous to my upgrade from RH5.2 when I had the printer directly connected to the samba server, I was able to print just fine from the windows client machines (not using the raw method) My /etc/printcap is as follows ##PRINTTOOL3##

interesting problem
I have shorewall 1.3.12 installed on a redhat 8 fully patched machine with three nicks. Eth0 has 10 IP''s bound to it and has been succsessfully routing web traffic to servers on the dmz. This morning I added another server to the DMZ, configured my network with the correct IP, configured dnat in "rules" and restarted both. From a standalone machine that is on the same segment

Printing Problem
Hi there. I have the following Problem (configuration follows): I have configured Samba with 3 printers, 2 of them with direct connection over TCP, because they are connected directly to the internal network. When I try to print on one of them, the printing application on a Windows XP Professional client freezes and a Windows 2000 client reports an error message, that there is a problem with

KDE-Print almost working, directory shares working good.
Hi all, I've been reading quite a few of the posts to this mailing list, and I'm afraid that my question is going to look very noobish, but as I am one, that's to be expected, so apologies in advance for my post getting caught up in more serious samba queries. I have two PCs, one a workstation (biggeek.supermail.dyndns.org, 192.168.1.100), and the other a general server machine

Odd bug in Siemens C460IP ?
Hello, I think I have encountered an odd bug in Siemens C460 IP/dect handsets, which is a bit annoying, and I'm not (yet) sure how to get round it without lots of hacks. Basically, on all external incoming calls, we set: exten => s,n,SIPAddHeader(Alert-Info: Bellcore-dr2) This causes handsets (i.e. Cisco 7960 / Grandstream / aastra) to set a different ring cadence so to differentiate

Printing to samba server doesn't work
Well, not like it should. I can capture a printer with the "net use lpt1:" command, but I would really like to be able to print to any one of the three printers in my printcap. NT gives me the error: "The parameter is incorrect". I attached the error message screen below, in .png format. This worked for the last printer I had. All I changed was the printer and the
